Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 27 2:49 pm)
The problem with allocated memory is that you're assigning that space of memory for that program, and that program alone, this might end up hurting the performance of your Mac. What should be done memory should be set to the recommended amount, and poser should be assigned Virtual Memory, (which is taken from your hardrive) according to the size of your hardrive, this will greatly improve your Mac performance and Poser's performance and render time as well. On a PC this problem of "Allocated Memory" is almost non existent, because a PC automatically assigns, memory automatically to a program.
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Hi all. Newbie question here regarding Memory. I am running Poser 4 on a G3 Mac 600Mhz with 384 mgs of RAM. Poser recommends something like 65,000 K of memory to be allotted to the program. I have it set way, way higher with the hopes that it would speed things up (i.e. renders). But, I am wondering if this is the right thing to do. Does the higher I set the allocated memory mean there is less RAM left over? Am I actually hurting my performance? I am kind of curious as to how much memory some of you other folks are allocating for the program. As it is, I can render one character, with hair but no props, clothes or sets. If I put a 2nd character in, forget it.
