Or for that matter, anyone using Phyllis for Koshini?

I'm currently working on my BlackFox texture for Koshini and am wondering if anyone has used my two previous textures? I can see that someone other than me and my mother has downloaded them :D

Any comments regarding them? Problems?

Dee

Like me, some people will download these things intending to use them at some point and then life gets in the way of using poser so they dont get round to actually using the things much. Since I first made my free robot figure ( here in freestuff ) I havent seen one picture using it. Yet over a thousand people have downloaded it, here and at other sites. I also asked people in the text for my robot to tell me what they like or dont like about it, so that I would know what to fix or keep when making a new one, but, of course, no one replied. I wouldn`t worry too much about people using your freebies, they will, eventually. I think that you should keep making your textures they are very good and different too.

I've observed a similar situation with my Davros face pose. A while ago I noticed it had tallied over 370 downloads. Beth "Capsces" found this rather odd. One needs "Boris" for Michael to use my file. Beth didn't give numbers (none of my business, anyway), but she did say she has not sold anywhere near that many copies of "Boris". I hope it's simply a case reflexive downloading (getting it now before the item might disappear). I suspect a certain percentage of downloads were conducted by people who simply don't understand they need to own both Michael from DAZ and "Boris" from "Capsces". If that's the case, no one has yet to e-mail me complaining, "Hey! Why can't I use this thing on the 'Dork'?!" Sincerely, Bill

... and sometimes people will download a freebie while putting the commercial item into their Wishlist to pick acquired later. Boris had been on mine for ages, until Lyrra gifted him to me for Christmas (she's not omnipresent or official, so I can now say that she has a niceness streak which goes all the way through to the bone, and I'll be glad to be her hostess if she makes it out this way). I've downloaded all sorts of stuff for fairies which required the milkids, some of it was time sensitive. Thanks to DAZ putting out a coupon last Christmas, I bought a texture set which included the milgirls free. I was somewhat embarrassed to take advantage of it that way ๐Ÿ˜Š but I did... and can now start unzipping those files with wings and things. Carolly

Eeek! Maybe it is like feeding your minions double rations so they'll be nice and plump when you throw them into the Furnace of Gormastcszh? Maybe we don't know what truly malignant evil lies ahead? Carolly (wiping sweat from brow)

Lyrra, In case you were wondering what I was doing with him.... Dan Farr is a handsome man, with great bones, but his features are really hard to disguise. This is getting there. Gandalf doesn't yet look thousands of years old. I need to figure out a way to get the cheek grooves deeper without being sharp and add a few more bags under the eyes. I'm also going to have to figure out how to get properly bushy eyebrows. This has no texture, just bump and transmaps, because I'm trying to sculpt the shape rather than paint it, if that makes any sense. No postwork (many days to go before it gets to that stage). You're doing a really great job, I think... The hard part's going to be the body... The models just don't do older skin well, without textures and bumpmaps, and even then...

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 26 January 2004 at 9:44 PM

Yes. Being 53 means that my skin isn't quite as smooth as it used to be, and certain areas are showing a bit of weathering. I have never been one for moisterizers or pampering, but have kept covered up (blonds sun-burn badly). Even so, there is more "texture" to my skin. I can just imagine what 3000 years of traveling around Middle-Earth did to a wizard who was already old when he got here! In life drawing, we did have wrinkly old men models, with ear hair and everything, but I probably won't go that far. ;^) The image I'm working on here is of Gandalf when he gets sent back naked after traveling out of time and space, so I won't be able to hide much with robes, but last night I figured out how to turn it into a layer mask. Yippee! Unfortunately, I won't be able to enter it into the Tolkien contest since it won't use any of the required DAZ items, despite prominently featuring a DAZ product, but it will be a good exercise in sculpting with light.
