I think what he is telling you is to make sure you have SR3 from Curious Labs, for Poser 5. Earlier releases were _horribly_ unstable and problematic. Your runtime. By lean he is meaning to make sure you only have the files in your runtime that your actually use (example: objects, textures...things of that nature). Most of us Poser users have _huge_ runtimes and often with tons of items we don't even use..LOL HTH -gz-Yes, the updates. From the Curious Labs site. Makes a big difference in speed and stability. Poser 4 only allows you to have one Runtime. But Poser 5 allows you to create multiple Runtime libraries. So you could have one for Vicky, one for Mike, one for the Millennium Kids, etc. Or maybe one for SF, one for fantasy, etc. But try to keep the main runtime - the Poser 5 runtime -- from getting too large. If it gets too big, it will really slow Poser down. For now, install the updates if you haven't. If you just installed P5, you probably don't have worry about your main runtime being too big. :-)
Ok, well right now..i don't have too much time on my hands to test it though. I'ma stick with Poser 4 for some days..maybe in the weekend i'll check it out. One thing that i noticed was that everything seems out of place in Poser 5...i'm used to Poser 4..and alot of things are just changed...or gone?
First I started up Poser5,I imported V3, set her as default, and closed Poser. Next I went in Windows Explorer to Poser5's main runtime folder and I deleted everything I never use (I only kept Don and whatshername). Poser opens in twenty-three seconds flat with all V3's head and bodymorphs loaded, and V3 fully textured. (I have three textures/MATMOR's installed, four Hairs, and two lights sets) Having made a copy of the original runtime, I can put it back whenever I should ever need anything from it. (XPPro and 1,5GB DDRam)
I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)
If I may add: several magazines now come with a free copy of Cinema4D r6 on them. Grab one if you can. Poser5 renders tend to be unnecessary slow, most certainly when you increase the main shadow map to something believable like 4096 and the others at half or a 25% of this....

From the service release readme: SHADOW MAP FILES Poser creates temporary shadow map TMP files. Beginning with SR-2.1, these files will be placed in the root Poser 5 folder (typically C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5) and will be deleted if: - The scene completes rendering - The user cancels the render - The render fails Shadow Map TMP files are named for their assigned light, for example: - spotLight 1_shadow_0001.tmp - LIGHT1_shadow_0001.tmp Please search for and remove these Shadow Map temp files from your system.

Alright first my PC. AMD 1800XP + 512 mb ram Geforce 3 Windows Xp Pro newest Nvidia drivers newest Dirext X. Poser 4, runs..perfectly fine. But weird enough poser 5..it's runs ridiciculously slow...it begins with the loading..which takes easily 2 minutes or just alittle less . When i load up characters, or anything that just went with a fine speed in Poser 4 goes incredibly slow in Poser 5...anyone know about this?
