Interesting question... If you feel that your effort really does deserve some kind of financial compensation, then in my humble opinion you should go ahead and try to sell it. The worst that could happen is that it doesn't sell and it gets forgotten. Another factor you might want to consider is whether or not the model (product) you are offering has a potential market. If you are creating something very specialized and obscure (i.e. "neolithic bottlecap collection), chances are it will not sell very well. :o) Your best bet... as a merchant just starting out, is to offer your initial attempts as a freestuff item. It's a learning exercise. You'll improve your workflow and productivity with future releases. You'll get a better sense of what works and what doesn't. Plus, you'll be able to start establishing your presence here. Just suggestions... :o) Cheers! M

Moebius87 has given some great advice. I'll add to that a caveat even for experienced modelers who attempt to sell products for Poser. Poser has some unique and not-so-standard requirements in terms of geometry, winding order, normals, UV mapping and several others. If you understand the terms above and know how to control them in your modeling program then you are probably ready to sell. If you have to ask, "what's a normal?" or how do I reverse the winding order?" or "how do I use UV Mapper?" then I personally don't think you're ready because we already have plenty of stuff made by other people who don't understand it either. Of course, that didn't stop any of them... it just made buyers like me pretty leery of any newcomer to the marketplace. Even though you might DERSEVE to be compensated for your time, people who buy products also DESERVE ones that meet the unique requirements of Poser and not just the standards set by the modeling program or the rest of the Non-Poser 3D community. If there is any doubt, I'd suggest getting a few people to beta test for you and give critical evaluations (not just typical gushing praise that is quite abundant here). Another way might be to release an initial item as a freebie and see how it flies - but that doesn't teach you anything except that most people will download something just because its free, but they probably won't get around to using it for months (if ever) so don't expect people to point out any flaws unless they are really glaring. I'm kinda new to the 3D world so any advice is deeply appreciated. I have been working on a model in Wings off an on for a few weeks now an am not sure if I should offer it in a free section or put it up for sale. I realize time spent on and detail are a factor. Too an inexsperienced artst as as myself alot of time and effort has gone into this and I feel it is worth some small ammount, but then again. To an exsperienced artist it may be of little value. So hence my turmoil, when to sell and when to give. I'm open for any and all suggestions and thank you again for listening.
