Subject: How to make the head texture match the body texture?

Hello

... looks like I'm going to purchase p5. I had a chance to play around with it in San Jose today, and wow! It's a long ways from p4.

My question is in regards to getting the textures created in the face room, to apply to the body. I had people running around with African heads, and European bodies... bwaahaa

I did get an option to make the head the same color as the body, but thats not what I'm looking for; at least I don't think it is.

How do I; after having created a texture in the face room for the head, get that same coloring for the body? I'm gonna get a chance to play around again tonight, but I want to be able to do the above.

I used a pc today, but I personally own a mac.

thanks

winter

It's really something you HAVE to do in your photo application. Simply take a RGB color reading from the neck area of the body texture, which might be something like 227-169-122, and adjust the colors of the face texture accordingly. Be prepared to do plenty of postwork on the face room textures, and some prework on the photos you use in the FR, but it's worth it. Truly unique looking characters very quickly. Absolutely no stock Posette or DAZ stock look.

Thanks for the reply. But what if I want the body to match what I've "done" to the head? I've created a bunch of head textures, saved 'em, etc. But when I apply the texture to the head, the body is still in the default-texture-state. Does the same hold true for getting the body to look like the head texture; post work that is? Winter

Hi winter,

What you want to do is not a simple operation.

You might try this method.

Use a photo edit program to modify the "brightness" and "contrast" of a standard (Poser) body texture.

This does not require you to make a completely new texture since the whole texmap gets modified at the same time.

Adjust the body texmap to get the basic skin color that you want.

Use the body texture that you just made in Poser and then match the head color to the body texture.

Perhaps, Poser6 will include the inverse function, i.e., match body texture to head.

Does the same hold true for getting the body to look like the head texture; post work that is? I'd say pre-work. Just reverse the process. My suggestion is to go for general tones on the body skins and then match your heads to them as you develop them. Very white, mid-tone caucasian, olive toned (which could cover Mediteranian, Hispanic, Asain, etc.) and black (African, south Asian, etc.). Use any photos to get your color readings. Manipping colors on caucasian body textures to get a really black skin might be a problem though.

Said it once, and I'll say it again.

Ask, and ye shall receive. Great forum!

Thanks people.
