Anybody want to ticjle my fansy my attempting to explain any one of the many reasons, I can imagine, being the cause for the bands I keep noticing in this scene's Ultra render, please? This is the only, of my first 6 sky backgrounds, that leaves a band. I've prayed never to see a render angine do this, on a good setting. I'd very much like to always avoid this in the future!

Don't know what you're talking about. I don't see any. Could be my eyes or your monitor. Try posting a larger image with the defect pointed out. Bot

Angel.... can you make sure your monitor is set to 32 bit color depth ? If I set my resolution to 16 bits of colors, I can see banding, especially in the lower left corner. But if I switch to 32 bits, the picture is just fine.

I'm running 32 bit and I can see banding there. But, as its probably a jpg picture I can't say I would see it in its original form.

Yes, I agree with DMM - there is slight banding at 32 bit. It's a little easier to see if you mask out the bright central band with your hand. As Angel raised the question, presumably it's not just a JPG artifact and is evident in the original image too. I have seen similar (and worse) banding in Terragen, but not in a Vue sky before. My only thought is have you tweaked the gamma either in Vue or in post? I have found that doing so in post (or using PSP's Clarify filter) on a Terragen render can create very obvious bands in large blue graduated areas of the sky that were barely if at all noticable originally.
