My largest project to date. a whole scene, completly modular. add, remove, mix and match according to system specs. or just load the whole model at a click. no textures needed, but can be applied. uses small RAM saving tiling textures and materials. everything is broken down into material zones, for super easy setup.

Should be in the testing que tonight.

Looks cool..I bet all those curves would look great in chrome.:) Whats the polycount on this?

thanks Stonemason, :)
poly count on the enire model is 163210
with about 60000 of that being in the trees.
it takes a decent system to manipulate it in poser. my amd 2400 512 megs RAM handles it without much effort.
Vue and Bryce handle it with ease.
and yep, chrome with a nice reflection, really lights it up, :)

Cool! That has to be one of the most original things I've seen here! What programs did you use to make everything? Coldrake

Very nice (and not what I expected from the title). I'm glad to see the more flowing shapes. Carolly

since i'm just an ignorant end-user of models, can you equate the polycount into filesize for me?? i'm very interested, but my system is a bit old & fussy :(( thanks so much!! :))

Poisen ( ) posted Mon, 23 February 2004 at 9:13 PM

Sure Giana. ill give it a go, :)
the DAZ V3 Model runs about 60,000 polys, so its about the equal of 3 Vicki's when you have loaded all 10 models.

This model is broken into 10 different "props" so you can add or leave out certain pieces to save your system resources, the 2 higher detailed trees run about 20,25 thousand polys apiece. so just by removing those 2 reduces the poly count by a third.

each piece is not particularly large, its just that there are 10 of them, :)
and the file size is just over seven megs zipped up, i think all the files are around 20 megs unpacked.

i would say if you have a Pentium 3 800mghz or so and 512 mgs RAM you should be able get all 10 of them all loaded at once.

I hope this helped, :)
if you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask.

The trees weren't made in Onyx Tree Pro were they? Because it's illegal to sell or distribute the meshes from that program. Not trying to cause problems, I just don't want to see you accidentally get yourself in trouble. :) Coldrake

well, hey!! thanks for the quick response to my question!! i appreciate it heaps... i currently have a Pent2, 450mHz, 512 RAM :o yea yea, it was dug up by some archeologists... it was still on a desk, but there was a dinosaur skeleton in the chair... sigh... i wonder if i could render it in pieces and then composite it in PS... i do quite a bit of this anyway... i'll need to ponder... again, thanks bunches for getting back to me on this so quickly!! :))

hey thanks colddrake, as a matter of fact 2 of them are. ill fix that,, i think i could make better, with a lower poly count and improved leaves.
i just generated them at work, from a copy of the onyx software. didnt even cross my mind that they were proprietary, seeing as its a generator, not individual models.

ill get this fixed up. didnt even cross my mind.
sorry people it's going to put this on hold for a day or two.
thanks again for the info, coldrake. could have been a problem. :)
