I'm thinking this thread answered by Donald may be quite helpful in answering some of your questions..... I'm thinking a polarizer may be more of a diservice because this is going to cut down on the available light by 1-2 stops more. And with light being at a premium, this may cause you some difficulties in getting reasonable shutter speeds that can be safely hand-held. Maybe? You may even want to try shooting with some 800 ISO film as well, unless you find grain to be extremely objectionable.

Thanks. I've been rereading the tips and it pretty much confirmed my ideas :) I really don't like grain (unless it adds to the style of the picture), so I probably won't bring 800. Now just hope that there IS something to shoot :)

Rinze: Yea, shooting carshows and motorcycle shows are pretty much the same. The biggest difference I can think of is that because the bikes are smaller and more open, you have to pay more attention to the background. You also have to watch the exposure. With the size of bikes, you can tend to pick up more of the background when you meter. Good thing is, they are so open that people don't feel the need to walk over and stick their head in the frame like they do with cars (looking in doors, under hoods, in trunks, etc). And when you post the shots, you gotta remember to at least have one "babe" shot in there or Misha starts twitching and mumbling incoherently. hehe... -=>Donald
Thanks for the advice. The F70 has several metering settings and according to the reviews the 3D metering system is pretty good :) I'll probably set it to the center ring metering so that it mainly covers the bikes. I'll have to remember the babes, if there are any that is :) Can't have Mischa going weird on us, one Tedz is enough hehe. This is more than a bike show, it's one of those things where they sell all kinds of peripheral stuff as well (clothing, gadgets and the lot). Anyhow, if I get any decent pictures, you'll see next week.

I'm planning to goto a motor(cycle) show next weekend and ofcourse I'll be taking my camera (Nikon F70). I'll be taking 400 ASA film because it's indoor and judging from the last show I was on the lighting is too dim for 100 ASA to shoot comfortably, on the other hand, 100 gives nice sharp results. I usually use Kodak Gold film, but this kind of enviroment might need different film, any suggestions? Should I be taking any filters, like a polarizer? In this case I think reflections are wanted to show off the curves and such of the objects. The camera I'll be taking is my 'new' Nikon F70 with a 28-70 lens (and probably my 70-300, which definatly will need 400 ASA, for the babes :P)
