i have been trying to become more familiar with the different elements of Bryce and am hoping that it has improved my art - though i do know i have a long way to go yet :) i've also just installed poser 3 and decided to try to incorporate a figure into an image. this is only rough so i haven't used AA. i also know that there definitely is something wrong with the eyebrows. i would appreciate any C&C that you guys would be kind enough to make. thanks

There are quite a few poser-to-bryce tuts out there...... are you going to give her any hair? I also wish I could know the story behind this.... it's an intriguing image, but it leaves me with questions. What might be interesting would be to make the ground and the.... rocks (if that's what they are :) the same material and set them both to object space mapping to make them melt together. At least, I think it's object space mapping that does that. I could be wrong.

thanks for the suggestions Melansian - will try it out, and will definitely look up the tutes - those eyebrows have really driven me nuts. i was going to leave the girl bald - but am interested to know what others think. the piece is about an unexpected discovery but haven't made up my mind as to a definite title yet.

Wow...so much better than any of the pics i made with figures in them... I personally REALLY like the...faerie...things...so mysterious! The bushes are kinda neat too, though i'd say it's not the greatest image for realism purposes :D How DID you make the fairies?

Errm - actually it's "world space" that makes thing melt into each other. "Object space" scales the texture on each object it's applied to according to the dimensions of the object; "world space" applies the same (world) scaling to everything it's applied to. If that helps... Cheers, Diolma

Hehe. I had a hunch I'd be wrong. Cheers, diolma!

thanks for the comments :) alakker, the image shows the structure of the fairy. i made a 3ds model, created a transperant mat for it and then placed a small radial light at the centre. i used the default light settings with intensities ranging from 20 to 30 for each of the models. found some of the results to be very colourful while experimenting. if you'd like to IM me your email addy i can send you a zip of the 3ds file and the mat i made - that is, if you use a PC. was going to upload it and provide a link but i can't contact my host sever at the moment - annoying in more ways that one. when i get the server sorted i'll upload it to free stuff, but don't know when that'll be.
