This is slightly OT, but so many of you guys'n'gals seem to like furry animals ;) There's a new contest running. The idea is to model a cat or rat using some free software from FXRealm. The final render can be in any software, so I thought you might be interested :) Kev.

I'm not sure where to ask questions about this one, so I'll try here. Must the creature be made SOLELY in CC? Or may you use other modeling programs to tweak/improve it afterwards? Also should the final creature be rigged and mapped and textured? It's a fun contest, CC can do some very interesting bipeds (I've only tried the demo so I don't know if the full version can do other than bipeds...)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Broad, isn't it :) Realistically you're going to need to do some work on the creature created with CC in some sort of modelling app, but so long as the final result can be shown as derivative of the creature file (which according to the rules should be available on request) then I don't see a problem. As for the rest... it's your call. The idea is to show just what can be done using CC as a starting point.

Right :) I had to ask becourse the face types in the demo are rather limited when it comes to creating a cat/rat, but I've made one that could be a good starting point (I hope) for a morph. Also there are none of the abdomen parts that has a useable tail, so either I'll have to do a Manx cat or make one. And one of the best known attributes of a rat is it's long scaly tail :o) OK off to work again...

This sounds interesting although my modelling skills are hardly out of the stone age yet. 8)

Being kind of ignorant, how or where do I open the demo to?? Or do I create a new folder for it??? Sorry, have never messed with this type of file before. Can I extract the files to Poser 5??? See I am lost......thanks for all of your help. I would love to see what I can come up with, but kind of new to this stuff.

You simply unzip it to somewhere (I put mine on my desktop) Using folder names. Inside there's an .exe. You just run that :o) The characters can be saved as 3DS files (and DXF) and both can be imported into Poser where you can then bone them and texture them. I'm not sure if they're UVMapped though... But you can import them and export them as obj, then UVMap that. I'd recommend making it an obj in any case :o)
