Poser 4 generates the geometry .rsr file automatically, if none is found. So even though you didn't download and install an geometry .rsr, you might have a corrupted .rsr now ....

Pro Pack and Poser 5 don't create or use geometry .rsr files, incidentally.

It's also possible that you've installed the .obj in the wrong location. When Poser can't find the geometry, you'll get several error messages, then the figure will finish loading, and even though it appears in the selection menu there's nothing visible onscreen.

yes that is what happens but I don't get any error messages it gives me an hour glass for a few seconds then it stops and act as though the figure is there I tried moving the obj to the folder where the cr2 is that didn't help and I unzipped and loaded it with the files it came in and i also looked into the CR2 to see where it is looking for the obj and it looks ok I may have to retype the command line where it is looking and run it directly from root to where the file is located and see if that help

Try importing the obj into poser to verify it works. Then check all the paths in the cr2 to see that they do indeed point to your obj. Poser is case sensitive. Also delete any rsr found in Geometries. Not the one in characters, that is only the thumbnail.

Also.. what item is it? It may give some people a clue to what could be wrong (if for instance it's an add-on and not a stand-alone thingie. It does happen)

Okay, there is a way to fix this because I just experienced this problem with a PhilC conforming figure. What you do is import the obj into the Poser with nothing checked on the import options pop up. Now the obj should come into the studio. Now, you're going to export this back out, saving as the original obj name and position in the geomentry file. Tick only the obj. Crucial part here is when the next popup comes up for exporting. Tick only these boxes: "Include only existing groups in polygon groups" and "As Morph Target (no world transformations). Once you've done that. Delete the existing rsr file that Poser made the last time, and the mtl file you'll get from exporting. Important part again: Close Poser down. Reopen Poser and click on your cr2 in the library. This worked for me in getting PhilC's free side lace up pants to come into Poser correctly. (Some of these tricks were learned from the short tutorial on how to get Tenten on V3) Hope this helps and hope you can follow my instructions. Liz
