Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 17 1:54 pm)
I had this problem a while back. I think I solved it like this : 1. Open the 3ds model in 3dstudio max. 2. Select each texture in turn (Material Window) and make the textures double sided. 3. save the 3ds model and re-import into poser. I'm not at my PC at the moment so I can't test that, but give it a try.
Unusual. I've been modelling for 4 years in max and I import everything to poser as 3ds, then convert it to obj. I started doing this because I wasn't happy with the stability of the obj export from max. I've never had a problem with 3ds files at all. I'm sorry I can't offer a solution. It could be that some technique has been used that poser doesn't like (and that I've never used), but I can't imagine what it could be. mac

Download Accu-Trans. It's free for 30 days. After that, it's $20 on the honor system. It's like a poor man's PolyTrans - it will convert among many different 3D formats. Open your "bad" 3ds file in Accu-Trans, then save it as an OBJ. You should be able to import it into Poser then. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Can anyone tell me why 3ds files seem to break up the model when I import them into Poser? For example, i cannot accurately import the beautiful models from SciFi3D because they tend to be either 3ds (which breaks up) or MAX which Poser cannot handle. Thanks!
