Hello to all: I bring to this forum a restlessness that I worry about enough, that concern this based on a situation that has just spent in these last days. Visiting the general gallery, I meet with a work announced specifically in the gallery of 2D, they don't import the names but if the facts that are serious for all those that believe images, like he told encounter a tumbnail with the face in first plane of a picture that I had taken and that for logic they correspond me the royalties, since the taking was carried out in my study with a professional model. The person that announces this work in 2D, will call it X, X ignores that my pictures exist, somebody called Z provides him a picture so that X makes its work in 2D, but to that picture they have been erased the inscription of my name, , and it dates, in consequence for X, it is a picture of free use, according to this person it was provided him by Z that you had dedicated to make collections of pictures, in those that there will surely also be also some of you my friends. We are before a violation of the royalties, X never requested me permission to use my picture, and to my order and that of the moderator had to retire the work. Me you that my question is very difficult of responding but equally the outlined accent What we can make before the robbery of images that you/they are not of free use?. Evidently there are unscrupulous people that enrich with the creativity of the authors, they conform collections of images to those that erase all the inscriptions, and that then they sell without us neither to those that we depict they are informed of this. According to the laws of intellectual property this is a criminal act, and as such who work he has this way to fall them the whole weight of the law. Rodolfo Ciminelli

Rodolfo.... if someone is using your images without permission on Renderosity please contact a moderator, myself or the 2D gallery moderator. You may give them the name of this member and the links to the images in question. I will be happy to help you if you contact me by IM. We will have the images removed. It doesn't matter if he got the images from a friend or got them from your gallery himself. This is wrong no matter how it was done.....

I am, therefore I create.......

Hi Michelle: Thank you for their answer, already speak with the moderator and immediately the image removed fu I also received the person's excuses that it had elaborated the work with my picture. As I say my concern it is as defending of the robbery of images, it is a fight without doubts very difficult, I believe that we all should be attentive and to act when the circumstances require this way it. A cordial greeting =) Rodolfo

Rodolfo, Thanks for telling us about this. Each time any one of us sees and reports a copyright violation, all of us are helped. ... and the violators are made aware of their error. Are you aware of Digimarc? The Digimarc software adds a "digital watermark" to your images before you upload them to the web. This capability is available as a subscription service in image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop. Click "Products" -> "MyPictureMarc" for imformation. MGD

Rodolfo, You may want to look into the link I am leaving here. An electronic watermark that embeds itself in an image. This way you can track any of your images and locate them no matter where they are on the web. I personally find it offensive that people right click and save others works here, without first asking. I have never once right clicked and saved anyones work from this site, or any other for that matter, it simply is a matter of respect for me. Another saftey precaution that you really need to be doing is registering your copyrights on your works. It really is rather easy and inexpensive. You can register photographs in large quantities for only $30! For the bulk registration, your photographs must be organized under one title (example the works of Rodolfo Ciminelli 1999-2005) For more information contact the Register of Copyrights, Library of Congress, Washington DC 20559 or you may call them at (202) 707-9100 and ask for "form VA" (works of visual art). Also, be sure to mark all of your work with the copyright symbol, this prevents the excuse "I didn't know" which is a common defense that thieves use. Now once your copyrights are registered and your digimarc in place, if you find someone "using" your work, you contact a lawyer. If this person is making money from your work you are entitled to all of it and then some. Have a wonderful evening all! Brenda :)

Thank you to all for their help, certainly unscrupulous people that take advantage of the work of other to take out economic interest, exist like he said in my first note they are deliquent common and as such it should treat them the justice. I have taken very in bill their indications and we will see the form of avoiding that it happens me another time the same thing. Again thank you to all....!! =) Rodolfo
