For All You Sci-Fi Enthusiasts,

PoserWorks is happy to announce the release of a long-term project, "Tycho"! Its not just a city in space, but the beginning of a dynamic, ever expanding new world for Poser.
Welcome to the 23rd Century.

OVERVIEW
Tycho World Space Station is made up of 2 Main Structures: 1. Hub

  1. Ring
Separate .obj Files Parented to the Ring:

  2. Station

  3. Monorail

  4. HUB ~ Poly Count: 68,000
The Hub is comprised of a Central Elevator Shaft running from the Top Observation Dome and Docking Station, down through the center of the entire Space Station, and 5 large structures that are attached to this Elevator Shaft. These are the Tycho Stations Operations and Administrative Buildings. They consist of Tycho Station's Communications Building, Science Lab, Power Station, Observatory, and Maintenance Building.

  5. RING ~ Poly Count: 68,104
The Ring itself is comprised of 5 Ring Modules, each of which has 3 concentric Levels suitable for habitats and/or environmental areas.

  6. MONORAIL ~ Poly Count: 110,156
Monorail consists of 2 Monorail Trains that run in both directions, and one object consisting of 2 Tracks (rails and their support structure) that run throughout the entire Ring.

  7. MONORAIL STATION TERMINALS ~ Poly Count: 18,220
Near the base of the Hub Elevator Shaft, there are 5 radial (green) spokes that are actually Elevator Shafts. Inside are 14 Passenger and 4 Cargo Elevators that provide transport from the Hub to the massive rotating wheel known as the Ring. The Monorail Station Exterior is part of the Ring, but the interiors are separate .obj files. There is 1 Monorail Station Interior since you only view one Station at a time. (To load into a different area of the Tycho Ring, you need only rotate it 72 degrees to the next Station Area. There are 5 total Station areas in between the 5 Modules. Station Interior consists of all Floors/Platforms, and the 14 Passenger & 4 Cargo Elevators. All Elevators move up and down and have movable doors.

EXTERIOR DIMENSIONS
The exterior height of the Tycho Hub from top to bottom is 2 miles.
The exterior diameter of the Tycho Ring is 2 miles in actual Poser Scale.
The exterior Tycho Ring circumference is 6.28 miles

INTERIOR MODULE DIMENSIONS
Floor Space Circumference of all 5 Modules is 5.6 Miles
LEVEL 1 ~ Innermost/Top Level ~ 775' Floor to Ceiling ~ 550' Wide ~ 1 Mile Long Inside This is the tallest Level and is capable of holding complete environments areas that could include such items as farmland, mountains, trees, rivers, lakes, hills, valleys, or extremely large structures. Floor Space Circumference of all 5 Modules is 5.6 Miles.
LEVEL 2 ~ Center/Middle Level ~ 100' Floor to Ceiling ~ 550' Wide ~ 1 Mile Long (Appx.)
LEVEL 3 ~ Outermost/Bottom Level ~ 254 Floor to Ceiling ~ 550' Wide ~ 1 Mile Long (Appx.)
Levels 2 & 3 are not as tall as Level one, and are primarily suitable for Housing, Retail Business, Commerce or Industrial Parks, Gyms, Ballparks, Concert Arenas, Parks, and the likes.

To try to help you visualize the size of just 1 Module--the width is almost the length of 2 football fields. The Floor Space is 3,025,000 Square Feet per floor level (keep in mind this is ONLY 1 LEVEL in ONLY 1 of 5 Modules.) So, if you were to place apartments taking up only HALF of the Floor Space in ONE LEVEL of ONE MODULE ONLY, and each apartment building was 20 stories tall, it would accommodate 15,000 apartments that were 2,000 Square Feet per apartment. With an average of 3 people per unit (or per 2,000 Sq. Ft. Apt.) this one area would EASILY accommodate 45,000 people. In essence, Tycho World Space Station is a habitat that could comfortably house 1/2 million people.

We plan to complete several interior habitats to fill all Levels in all Modules. Each will be sold separately as they are completed and can be loaded separately to keep file size manageable for rendering purposes. All releases will have their own .obj file but will be part of the base model (or common cr2 file.) We currently have two Mod Level in progress and a few more on the drawing board. All else is wide open and we welcome any and all interested 3rd parties who want to create their own structures, terrains, vehicles, accessories, or even entire Module Levels if they are inclined to do so. Tycho World was created as a modular, snap-together model with all interchangeable Modules for maximum flexibility. The only limitations are floor space and height of the 3 Levels within each Module. But we believe that even with these size limits, there is still ample space with infinite possibilities.

A couple ideas we have for potential future releases for Level 1(Top Level of 1 Ring Module in of any of the 5 Mods) might include hotels and casinos with a theme park for the kids. Another might be a nature environment with mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, forests, etc. These mods can be specifically designed for vacationers with tion resorts that provide all types of recreation for their patrons. They nmight include water sports, golf, rock climbing, hang gliding, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking trails, or wherever the imagination takes you. They might also be something completely futuristic. We prefer to surprise you with the current releases we have in store, but at least this gives you some indication of what this model is capable of handling and where ANY OF US can go with it.

Mesh templates will be included with each Level of each Module we release as well as Monorail Station Floor templates for you to work with. All will have mapping coordinates pre-assigned so that you may apply your own materials if you wish.

We invite EVERYONE who obtains the Tycho model to put your own creativity to work. We too, will be adding sections to each Mod Level and releasing them as they are completed. With so much space to fill, its been fun coming up with concepts and ideas for what to build and how to make everything work together properly in this City in Space. Please feel free to give us your input. All comments and suggestions are welcome. Either post here on the Renderosity Product Showcase Forum, or e-mail your creative ideas to us. The new official PoserWorks e-mail address is pam@poserworks.com I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how YOUR IMAGINATION WORKS! ; )

Hope you like it!

Cheers!
Pam

Yep, Beta Testing is crucial in a model of this magnitude! We thank God we have these QA-men. There were a few hurdles to overcome with getting everything compatible in both P4 AND P5, but Tom and our Master Beta Testers :O LOL!!! ;) were able to find all the solutions we needed to launch. Here is another image of the monorail train with one material in one of the VERY COOL material packs that will be AVAILABLE SOON!

Glad you like the price. We decided to make this an ongoing project so we made the base model as modular and flexible as we could. Not only does this allow us to make the model more affordable, it also lends flexibility to it so that others can HELP US FILL THIS DARNED THING UP! LOL! ; ) All you talented people out there in the community, feel free to create your own wares (to sell or to giveaway) if you feel up to the task. :) pg

This is a spectacular product! Here is a medium close-up showing the detail that is available in the P5 materials set. Under the dome near the bottom is the monorail station shown above. This model is HUGE!

Here is an alternate color scheme for the Monorail and the Station. All of this and more will be in the P5 materials set.

Pam, you may want to be a bit more careful with your links, in the email you sent out with the link to this thread, you included your session key info as well.

Oh, yeah.

fireheart ( ) posted Wed, 28 July 2004 at 4:13 PM

I was so eager to get a hold of this, the waiting was beginning to hurt. I was expecting it to be good and I was expecting it to be big. But WOW! You guys have redefined BIG Pam. Staggering would be a good word to describe this package and the wait has been well worth it. Can't wait for the additional sections.

stallion ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 12:03 PM

The possibilities are as large as this package I GOT MINE!!! Thx Pam and all involved@IW43D

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

jade_nyc ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 1:30 PM

Can anyone tell me if some camera presets are included? A set this big can be a real PITA to maneuver around in Poser ;) lol It looks really awesome though! great job!

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 1:34 PM

yes it includes a few camera poses. mostly external though

ronstuff ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 1:40 PM

I'm working on some more cameras as well as placement poses - yes it isn't easy to move the cameras if you do it the way we normally do, but if you enter numbers instead of trying to use the dials and trackball, it can go pretty fast. Just takes a little practice navigating in such a huge environment. As far as I know, this is the largest structure EVER produced for Poser by a long shot!

jade_nyc ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 1:47 PM

Thanks Ron! I've worked with some pretty large sets such as Transpond's Dark Lord's Realm and Sanctum Art's RDL7 but this baby looks like it beats them all. lol

ronstuff ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 2:08 PM

Sure does! You could put EVERYTHING Transpond and Sanctum Art and Stonemason have ever made into just ONE ring module and still have a lot of room left over. "Big" doesn't begin describe this. It requires a whole new way of looking at Poser as well as a new way of navigating! And don't forget, this is a COMMUNITY project that is only in its infancy and everyone is encouraged to develop structures or accessories of their own to populate it and help it grow. P.S. Parts of the RDL7 as well as the SFCS will really go nicely with this model!

jade_nyc ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 2:43 PM

okay two more questions lol - when does the sales price end? and how much will it be full price? Thanks again.

iw43d ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 10:30 PM

Thanks Ron. Wasn't able to get on the forum due to the keycode fiasco, but all is well nopw. Appreciate the assist on the forum here very much. Jadenyc, We're keeping this price for quite awhile. Perhaps we won't change it at all, but we shall see. Our intention is to keep the model affordable since there are going to be so many more releases to come to fill this GIANT place. We plan to keep the price for additional releases right around this same price range, so have no worries that we're going to have the base model low then make the others high. That wouldn't be very nice. Besides, our intention is to keep all sections affordable. In an election year, one never knows how the economic tide will turn. Cheers! Pam
