In the old thread, Twisted_Symmetry declared that the picture could use "greenery ... like long tentacles of thick growth." Using Bryce 4 to do so is an interesting process, so I ended up with 4 different ideas. I need help with finding the perfect thick growth look.

Here 'tis shown normally.

And finally I used the original, duplicated the mountain and enlarged it by .01 bryce units in all dimensions, then set it to a foliage procedural texture. So help me out, what do I do?

I like post #2 the first mossy rock texture the best.

I like post #2 as well... your first mossy rock much better than the following 2. You can go to the link and download some free vines if you are looking to add some tentacle like growth. They would need to be rescaled of course and have a mat put to them. But that may help you some in what you are trying to achieve.

I like #2 as well, but to my eyes it'd look a bit more convincing colour-wise if it had a hint of yellow in the green. Sticking some trees inside the mountain and letting just a few branches stick out might work too?

I agree with Pog on the green. Another thing that can help make it more convincing is to add a little noise to the heightmap of your copied terrain. This gives the foliage material a little dimension of its own. Sometimes just moving the copied terrain on the Y a tiny bit gives a better effect.

I hope you don't mind me making the suggestion that what struck me about your first image was that it might look good if the top (roof) looked as if it was the top of the same rock, and that the intervening space (where the building is) had just been sliced out. And also that it would be pretty easy to do using a lattice to cut out the middle bit. Alternatively, if you wanted to have the top and bottom as two separate bits you could duplicate a terrain, then slice the top off one using the clipping bracket, and the bottom off the other (duh, just realized that's probably exactly what you did!) Anyhoo, here's a quick and dirty render of how it looks using a heavily-noised lattice as the negative.
