Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 15 11:01 am)
No, the V3 cr2 can't be distributed. You can only distribute characters as a Pose file, usually with an INJ/REM file to set the morphs. The "V3 Blank.cr2" is for fitting clothes for modellers or using when creating pose sets, to make sure you don't include morphs.

Hi karen, hmmm, I was just reading through the Daz license agreement and FAQ on distrubution of cr2 for V3. Maybe I am misunderstanding, but it sounds like it can be done so long as no DAZ morphs are included. Not trying to argue. Just wanting to be clear on this, because I have a character in the works that would benefit if I could include the cr2. Are you with DAZ? If so, I will take your comments as the final word on this. If not, I may email them with the specifics and see what they say. Here is the link to the DAZ article and some excerpt. http://www.daz3d.com/support/index.php?id=14 It has generally been our practice to allow people to distribute freely the CR2 files for our products, because the end user would need to own our original product (containing the necessary geometry file) in order for the distributed CR2 file to be of any use. skip...... A Victoria 3 CR2 file containing -by means of Delta Injection or otherwise- DAZ created morphs cannot be distributed, whether the DAZ morphs are included in whole or in part, or in combination with some custom morph element. PZ3 files created involving such characters will also contain this data, and so cannot be redistributed either. [A PZ3 file contains the entire CR2 file(s).] Because Victoria 3 CR2s are only distributable without DAZ morphs included (even derivative morphs), character add-on creators must rely on the end user to own and inject these morphs themselves, or create a readScript file to inject the morph(s) for them. [See methods of distribution below.] DAZ maintains a policy that allows the distribution of most products' CR2 files in order to facilitate the creation of complimentary products by 3rd party developers, as described above. For products with non-distributable CR2 files, DAZ provides a distributable version of the CR2 for this purpose. skip... It is also possible to distribute a Victoria 3 CR2 file containing ONLY your custom morph information. However it is recommended that original, custom morphs for the Victoria 3 model be distributed via delta injection pose files, which inject your morphs into any of the community dials (PBMCC_##) already built into the Victoria 3 CR2. There are many benefits to this method:
Yes - I've said it wasn't distributable but apparently was wrong - I'm pretty sure Cooler (DAZ's IP boss) has posted to the Fine Print forum at DAZ to say the same thing. The V2 CR2s weren't distributable, and I think most of us just assumed the same was true of V3 (especially given the Blank version).
Thanks. I think most the time it is easier/better to go the pose file route. I still may, but since this character will come with custom morphs and an assortment of props to help make her armed and dangerous, I thought it might be nice to have her loaded down in cr2 form, clothing and all, ready to rock and roll. :O)
Yeah, the problem is that the blank V3 cr2 won't take injection morphs - so you're stuffed any which way. So you could take the V3 blank.cr2, make a totally custom morph (i.e. made with magnets or an external modelling app), and judging from what Cooler at Daz said, distribute it - but your customer then wouldn't be able to inject any V3 morphs at all - which means no expression morphs. Personally I never liked the character sets being sold as cr2s, I'd much rather have them in pose files anyway. Saves a lot of resource.

If I were you, I'd use the pose file. No wonder everyone else does, LOL. If you want to use a CR2 though, I'd post over at Daz - get it from the horse's mouth so to speak. You could make your custom morph into an injectable as well, but I'm afraid I don't have a clue how you'd do that. I know it can be done, though, there are several products that do this.

Thanks again Karen. I already had the character set up as an injection pose file. That is what I normally do. The only reason I wanted to include the cr2 this time was because I had props and clothing and stuff that all make up the character, and it would be easier to just load the character and have it ready to go. Just more work for the customer now, since they will have to load V3, than the pose files, than the clothing, and the props, etc. Oh well, it is as it is. :O)

Can someone tell me what the current patch for V3 does? Not a rant. Just could not find any info as to what this one was addressing. Wondering how, if any, this might affect, the fit of clothing made for V3.
