Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 2:47 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
doozy, this is a very strange thing. On my Poser, the dialog box shows a preview picture of the currently selected texture on the left side of the box, and the filename is aligned to the leftmost of that. On your Poser, the whole preview is missing (but the filename still has the same position, that's why the first part is missing). I have no idea how this can happen, because it is not customizable in Poser, so you can't turn it on/off. It could be a problem with QuickTime (which is responsible for the preview), or any other damaged Poser and/or System resource. Try to re-install it bit by bit - first QT (4.1.2 should be the most recent), then Poser, then System... sorry for that.
Hmm... further idea: I don't know about this special task, but there are many many utilities around which de-activate system features to save time (as many as those who add system gimmicks... :-). Do you have one which disables preview pictures in "open" boxes? Just a guess, because in this case you can save yourself from re-installing.
One more time! (You can't delete/replace posts any longer, so I now have to splatter your board with single replies, ha!) There's one more test you could try. Check if the folders-popup ("textures" on your screenshots) is working: If it "pops up" normally (at the place you click) then Poser expects the box this size (meaning that the bug is likely within Poser). If it appears left or right from the place it should, then Poser doesn't know about the missing left side (more likely a system bug).
