Subject: Is there a way to pan in Vue?

I hope I'm missing something. My life would be so much easier if I could pan around in the different views. If I select an object to move around, I'd love to pan around the scene so I could more easily see exactly where the object is being placed. As it is, I have to zoom in and out and hope the program centers on the correct object. (Think of Photoshop, for a great example of zooming vs. panning.)

If there is a way, I don't know it, but would love to be able to also. I've said several times that I wished Vue had a trackball type camera setup.

I am not sure if you have try clicking and holding down the right mouse button. The cursor will change into a "hand" as you move. The scene would move (pan?) to the direction according to the mouse movement. Hope this is what you are looking for. Bill Tesign

Thanks, Bill, I wasn't aware of that. Cheers, Mike

you should run thru the quickstart tutorial, it gives you some basics about camera. rite-click to pan, ctrl-rt click to zoom, shift rt-click to do something or other else, I forget what. The other thing that I've taken to doing a LOT is selecting the camera object in the top view and moving it around like a regular object. Because the zoom function changes the focal length instead of bringing the camera closer, which isn't always what I want. MaryCanary

Duh! I knew it was something simple. I tried going through some of the tutorials, but I had trouble with some of them so I lost patience and started just making pictures. Well, umm, I just posed the question for new users. Yeah, yeah, that's it. I knew it all along. I read my manuals from front to back cover. Really. Honest. ;-)~

LOL! And to think I felt bad for not going through the tutorials! Really... I just started the first one and said the hell with it, and went on to making pictures. Actually, I was making some food when the Fed Ex guy showed up, so the first thing I did was to read through the manual while I was eating, and when I went to bed that night I read the rest of it, but I haven't even looked in it lately. Hey speaking of which, on page 257 in the acknowledgements paragraph, our very own Guitta Bertaud is mentioned. :) I think I did know about the camera thingie but forgot... I seem to have a very vague remembrance of going through one of the tutorials in the manual. Cheers, Mike

I went thru the tute with the demo because Bryce was KICKING my ASS so bad by being too hard for me! So I figured, this time I'll do it right dangit, and learn if I can really understand it BEFORE I buy it. So I got ALL the way thru the first tutorial...and then started making pix. But I'm gathering that for this crew that's a world record! :-) MaryCanary

And when I got the app I probably spent at least 4 minutes looking at the manual. But I'm gathering that for this crew that's a whole lot of tutorial/manual reading! :-) Since we all spend thousands of hours reading stuff on line tho, no need to feel bad, right? :) MaryCanary
