I don't know if this should be posted here or not.. but.. But I was wondering if there was away to load up a poser sean into Bryce 5? I can import models into Bryce, but I can't move them or anything. I also can't find away to keep the textures with the models.. nore can I find any tutorial that explans how to do any of this.

export the model as an obj. import it into bryce (file: import). it's gonna ask you for the textures, find them on your hard drive (c:program filescurious labsetc..) and the character will be imported. granted, there's still some work to be done to the individual mats, but that's pretty much it.

you'll have a lot of mesh objects, what they're named and how many will depend on the character you exported. Select the parts that have the same texture. Head, body, ect... Assign them to a family (easier to adjust textures this way) Enter the material editor. The material setting depends largely on the look you're going for. The above picture is a good starting point. Only the first channel of the texture will load. For bump maps, just copy and paste from the first channel to the second channel. For Transparency maps, better go find them on your hard drive. I'd start out selecting each mesh individually, until you see how the object group is set up. Repeat as needed.

For hair, eyelashes, anything with transparency. Load the trans map into the second channel. Dot the transparency channel. Make sure to set to blend transparency. Eye's take a minute. Most poser figures have different eye parts. You'll need to fiddle with it till you figure out, which is which. V3 has a cornea, iris, white, and pupil. The cornea should be clear, I use glass bubble #1. The other parts could be textured seperatly but since I haven't done any closeups I just apply the eyemap to the other parts. The ambience on the eyes should be slightly higher than the body, you might want to add some reflectivity. There are plenty of tut's available, both on this site and linked to from here. Do a search in the forum for poser figure or import poser. Not sure why I typed all this, Actually imported and screen captured along the way. Got thirteen pictures showing the main steps. Oh, well...

if you export the model as an object from Poser, and keep track of where all the flinkin' textures are, you can import that into Bryce, and most will be well..;) If you need 'organic' mats, Lunariad.com has a few, and I think Jelissa had some hair as well..works in a pinch..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
