If you've got all the updates loaded, and you've done all the rest, it may not be Poser. First, do you have enough memory? Poser is memeory intensive. If you've got plenty, then try checking for Spyware. I've had client's systems freeze a number of times because they've visited a website that loads spyware onto their system, and essentially takes it over. They can work for a bit, then they freeze. Running a good slyware catcher fixed their problem.

What operating system are you using? In general, things run much smoother on winXP or 2000 than on 95/98/ME.

Make sure you are not in full preview mode. On the right of the view port on the top are 3 buttons, an outlined box, a box with a ball in it and ball. Make sure you are not trying to pose with full preview (the ball) turned on.

A clean Poser install with sr4 should not do that. Do you have other programs that behave strange? You might have contracted spyware or a virus. Did Poser behave normal under the previous service release? I also have heard of problems with WinXP SP2. Never ran into those problems myself (I have 3 boxes on XP SP2) but there are too many problem reports to ignore. Then again, more programs should suffer, not only Poser.

Maybe you tidied up your poser stuff wrongly ie moved some things to the wrong place?

maybe your cat sneezed...

The stars aren't right. nods solemnly Xantor might be right, tho' - try finding "Correct Reference" (I think that's the name) here in freestuff utilities. See if that helps.

I have the same problem...It works fine...then just out of the blue, it freezes...I haven't moved any folders so I don't think that is the problem. I am using XP but this is the only program that behaves this way. I too, hope this is not going to be the future of Poser 6 as I love this program!

Sometimes .rsr files in the libraries get corrupted. Since P5 doesn't need .rsr files, you can safely delete them from the libraries. Warning: don't delete poser.rsr from the main Poser dir, that would crash P5 big time!

So, I can do a search for *.rsr and delete them all except poser.rsr?

xantor ( ) posted Fri, 01 October 2004 at 11:57 AM

Yes, you don`t need the geometry rsr files or the thumbnail rsrs

Ohhhh, thank you. I am going to do that and see if it helps! ;)
