Subject: P2Z to PZ2

Is there a way of converting poser5's p2z files to poser4's pz2 format? Tried just renaming them but no luck. I know saving the posed figure as a pz3 and then re-opening in poser4 works... but boy is that slow. Jack

In your preferences, uncheck the compressed file option - saved files will then be readable by Poser 4.

Thanks for that, but not what i actually meant. Poser4 can't open the p2z files used by poser5. What i want to do is use the poses supplied with poser5 in poser4 without having to go through the process of saving and exporting each pose. So is there a way of actually converting the files from p2z into pz2? Jack

Misunderstood, sorry. :( I think they're really just ZIP files. Try changing the extension to ZIP and opening in WinZip or similar. If this works, and you have a lot to do, P3dO's pattern renamer will make short work of changing the extensions for you - in a copy of the original folder, of course.

Nah, not a zip file :( looks like i'm going to have to do it all again.... now, when's my next free evening? hmmm Jack

Attached Link: http://www.gzip.org/#exe

They are Gzip files, if you download the program (at the link) and install it, then load one of the p2z files into winzip it will ask where gzip is installed, then point zip to the gzip location and then you can use winzip to decrunch all the poser compressed files.

You can open them in Winzip. I have Winzip 9.0 Open Winzip and select the P2z and it will ask you to give it the complete extention of the file, for example .pz2 or whatever the file extention should be and it will open it like a zip file then you just extract it.

There's a python script provided with Poser 5 that will decompress all files and write them as uncompressed. It will optionally delete the compressed files (careful!!!) Don't do this unless you have a lot of space on your drive!
