Subject: can anybody help

Is there a way of adding snow to tree's in bryce.

I suppose you could create a leaf texture and paint snow onto it... ...then simply apply the leaf texture to the foliage in the Tree Lab.

or duplicate a tree, give the duplicate a snow texture and move it up a little.

You could try to duplicate the tree, apply a snow texture to it and raise it slightly so it looks like the snow is sitting on top of the limbs. I saw it in a tut someplace, but can't remember where. Sorry.

yeah! like Rayraz said. I gotta learn to type faster lol.

Another way is to change the textures in the tree editor to both the leaves and the trunk by applying a snowy terrain texture and manipulating it in the DTE until you get what you want.

P.S. To this you can also add little clumps of terrain with snow texture on it and spread it about the tree. Also, use the actual selection feature in the material editor when applying your texture so you can see the changes you make when manipulating the texture. Like in the leaves screen grab above.

Like Quest, I will just add an altitude sensitive snow terrain texture to my leaves. For me, it's easiest this way. AS

IMO that looks a bit more like frost than snow. What about doing altitude render, using it as a lattice, messing a bit with it? I'll do some quick tests. Would only work from one angle, though.......

Super-fast messy attempt, using altitude render and lattice - don't laugh, just testing the principle. A lot more could be done by tweaking the lattice and improving the material.....
