Subject: Centaur??

Anyone seen a female and male centaur? I have seen them before, but I don't seem to have any luck finding them at the moment. Thanks Butch

DAZ used to sell one, but they don't have it any more. It was based on the P4 horse and the P4 guy, from what I recall.

There also used to be a free Vicki centaur using Victoria and the P4 horse. That was in freestuff here... Hmm. Looks like it's still listed but the site is 404. Darn.

There is a Posette one though, and the download still works. Do a search for "centaur" and they both come up right away (though the Vicki one is missing the image).

Not sure what to tell you on the male centaur, though. Hopefully someone else will have an idea.

Has possibilities. But I really need right now the female centaur. Thanks

Male centaur at Cloudland Castle.

Female centaur at Nerd 3D.

Sixus1 said they were going to make a matching female centaur to go with the male.

There is a free female centaur at PhilC`s old site. I wanted to say that a bipedal centaur is a human but that would just be facetious. ;)

Momodot Capsces has a two legged centaur type thing in the downloads page, it is called Dave "Lemurtek" Mathews' zebra mutations for Poser 4. With a different texture it could look like a two legged centaur or even pan.

I originally offered a Centaur Vic character (dead link now removed), but although my results were good, I think the effort of setting up the character was too much for most casual users. I am, however, brewing some new ideas in my skull about how to re-accomplish the character in an easier fashion utilizing v3 and either the P4 Horse or Mil Horse from DAZ. Since DAZ has promised a centaur character for about a year now, I was hesitant to do anything to stymie their business. At this point, I'm just gonna do it...and it'll be free. Unfortunately, I don't have the original V1/2 files anymore, so I can't give them to you. If anyone reading this managed to download the original files, I certainly don't mind redistribution...sheez, it's just a p4 horse morph anyway. :)

bomdropr; I have your original files, but I don't have anywhere to post them... BloodSong also has a tutorial on making a Centaur. And a 'bipedal centaur thingys', wouldn't that be a Satyr? For Satyr theres: Traveler's Monster 1 kit at RDNA (Mike & Vicky): [RunTimeDNA](http://www.runtimedna.com) Hector the Satyr by Quinlor, look in freestuff here or at RDNA (sorry, can't remember his URL) Freak Satyr at DAZ by NOS4RA2 and RawArt

Thanks everyone for their help. I think that these links will work for what I am trying to do at the moment. If it works, I post it in the galleries and let you see the result....

I have the Victoria centaur, btw. I've put it in my file locker here: "bomdropr's Victoria Centaur" :-) bonni

Sweet bonni! Thanks for doing that.

If by "bipedal centaur", you mean an anthro horse, PhilC and Debra Ross have female figures for sale.

((I am, however, brewing some new ideas in my skull about how to re-accomplish the character in an easier fashion utilizing v3 and either the P4 Horse or Mil Horse from DAZ.)) That's wonderful bomdropr! I've really been hoping someone would do a centaur using V3, and even maybe M3! Will be keeping an eye out for yours! Thank you! :D Until then ... for anyone else that wants to create a centaur pic with V3, it could be done with postworking I suppose ... or do what I did and try creative ways of hiding the spot where the two bodies join. LOL! An example: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=583318&Start=73&Artist=Neyjour&ByArtist=Yes

That's a great piece Neyjour. The file that bonni is so graciously hosting includes a "Wide Belt" conforming clothing piece that was intended to cover up the seam between the Vic's hip and the Horse neck, even with the morph set. I noticed some conforming problems after I made it available, so use at your own risk... :) I also include a photoshop layer that can be applied over your Vic texture so the seam is minimized. This is the part that most users don't seem to utilize. My idea basically involves using the P4 horse scaled down and repositioned to Vicky's zeroed position. Additionally, I'm thinking about deleting selected parts of the P4 horse neck (upper and lower), and rebuilding that portion to flow to Vick's torso (rather than just a morph). Now, to prevent having to use the .psd layer over your favorite texture, I think I can create a second mesh layer that fits over Vicky, but just under the re-built horse neck area: call this the "skin" layer. I can UV map the skin area to fit the regular texture area of Vic 3 so that it'll accept any V3 texture. Also I need to create a transparency layer for both the horse fur layer, and my 'Skin' layer of the horse model to provide a seamless flow. I've already tested this method with DaCort's Copperhead model, and it works pretty good. As a result, I've created an entirely new Snake-body mesh using this technique, that I'll probably be able to provide as soon as I get back to my desktop. Now the hard part, where my 'poser-ising' skills fall flat. As I stated earlier, I want to scale and re-size the P4 horse mesh, not the CR2. (NOTE: my previous CentaurVic scaled the V2 character to match the horse body) Using the scaled down and re-positioned P4 horse mesh, I'll try to create the blending area (with the extra skin layer) using Amapi. Once finished, I'll have to poser-ize the model and re-create the JPs, something I absolutely hate. I wonder if there's a way to transfer JP's from the P4 standard horse to my re-scaled, re-positioned Centaur body? I'm sure not. The other question in my mind is whether I want to make it conforming or just parent V2 to the new horse section. I favor conforming for ease of use, but I think I'd have to rename all the horse parts to differentiate from the Vick parts...then all the P4 Horse poses would be invalid, etc, etc. If I use the parent method, then my skin layer wouldn't conform to Vicky properly and the effect that I'm trying to achieve would be lost. Wow! Long statement here. Just thinking out loud to all the experts out there, so I can come up with an organized method to attack this project. Thanks for the time.

Discovered a missing file in the Centaur Vic .zip drkgreyhirez tail.jpg Can anyone check for this file please? Thanks :) Logan

igohigh ( ) posted Sun, 17 October 2004 at 12:08 AM

I think that may be Ladyfyre's texture, check her site. You can substitue any P4 horse texture you want.

Anyone have time to lend extra eyes for critiques please?

Thanks :)

Sigh!Have you ever had a great idea for a render and no matter what you do, it just won't come together and the hard you try to make it the worst it gets! I had an idea for a what I thought was a simple render, a female centaur holding a bow. I was going to turn it into a nose art kind of thing for a space ship. Geez what a mess, first it was too big and then too small, it didn't look it had been painted on, and then it faded into the texture of the ship and so and so. I'll come back to it one day and get it right, but right now, I going to walk away. I have my PA meeting tomorrow anyway....
