Thank you Bec for your helpful information and direction on finding what i was looking for. Life with bryce will be simpler now ;) Now i have a technical question for anyone to answer, why is it when i try to import an LWO object file i get an error. The error says "An unexpected error has occurred(Invalid Format)" This happens everytime i try usin LWO files.

No, there's loads of programs that will do conversions. If they're freebies you've downloaded, are there not obj's and 3ds's available as well? Those are the usual format for downloads. Link is for Accutrans, you can try it free for 30 days.Kemal i understand that, my problem is bryce is giving an error when importing LWO files. Not to worry anyway i have downloaded AccuTrans 3D and i'll try that for a while. Then look out 3d world your models belong to me ;) pogmahone thanks for letting me know about AccuTrans 3D and the link for it, i'll try it out for 29.5 days and see if i like it :)

Lightwave objects will import, but are you doing it correctly?

If Lunar is a newbie, I'm wondering if he has the Bryce patch installed?

pogmahone, i don't choose LWO from the dropdown when i click on import object a window opens with All Formats in the dropdown, i tried it on LWO and still got the same error. Bryster, what patch, if you are on about the update from v5 to v5.01 or which ever it is i have the update but never installed it after upgrading my harddrive because i didn't want to lose everything i placed in my libaries.
Go to Maxon and download the free version (I think) of C4D. The import/export functions are pretty good,......it opens files when Bryce or 3D Studio can't. Of course I have V.7, I believe the free or limited version is 5 or 6, not sure though.

Yeah, bryce only imports up to version 5.6 lwo files. There was a pretty hefty rewrite of the lwo format for version LW6 (its up to version 8 now).

thanks all, looks like i have been getting some LWO files that are from versions above 5.6. no matter i have a program that will import/export them for me. I'll try it a few more times and will end up buying it in the long run. sackrat i downloaded C4D R9 and it doesn't save/import/export files in the trial version, thanks for telling me about it. The Bryster my man, i'll not be lazy and remove all the files i have in my libaries then i'll install the patch/update for bryce :) Message from my girlfriend who i have no idea why she wont post this or anything on the forum other than she is either shy, lazy or just to stubbon. Thanks guys you have no idea how frustrating its been for him with these errors and not been able to use some of the great models he has found that are in LWO format. I'm glad we found this forum, you have all been a great help and when/if i get my WIP finished i will let you all see it. Thanks again LunarTick & Ehlana
LunarTick: There ya go! I have the patch installed and I don't recall it doing any damage to my Bryce installation or my pc. Good luck with the LWOs. Beleive it or not, I only discovered I could use LWOs recently. doh!

Well here goes. Being new to this silly program called Bryce, i have yet to know what file extensions can be uploaded to it or what programs those file extensions are done by. It would be great if people like myself could get/have a list of those file extensions and the programs they are done by. So if you kind hearted people could, could you please put a list up cause i can't find one anywhere :) Ever get sick of only being able to look for something and can only look in one area then you'll know why i have posted this
