I've toyed with wings, and like it alot. But for me its still a support App for Bryce. If Bryce were able to export its models, then I'd say Bryce would be in a little trouble, as it would become the support App for Wings and the like.

? If Bryce was able to export its' primitives, there are a few gifted folks who could make a fortune (bambam..are you listening?..;) Wings doesn't have a decent renderer, compared to Bryce. Hey, Wings is a tool, but a Craftsman kinda tool..;) Silo and blender have their place..(but I could buy Vue 4 or Bryce 5.5 for less than Silo..thinks that make ya go 'hmmm'..;)

Yeah, yeah. Not to sound like an elitist, or alienate ANYONE... I didn't want to do this but... Rhinoceros, people. Rhino 3D. RHINO. Nobody cares about Flamingo or Penguin or Elephant, really. But Rhino rules, and now that I shelled out so much money for it, there's no way I'm stepping down to any pansy little FREE modelers. (Truth is, a jewelry customer of mine paid for Rhino as the first phase of a computer-generated jewelry company, it's not like I shelled out a penny for it myself! But don't tell anyone that, it'll make me seem cheap...!) Still, Bryce is my renderer of choice. It's clean and simple for me, and although I also use Lightwave, LW is not for making art but for making movies. I'd never even consider doing a still in LW, it would take ten times as long and be five times as tedious. I'll stick with my Bryce/Rhino/Poser/Photoshop apps for my imagery, thank you.
You'll notice we only talk about other programs here concerning how they relate to Bryce, whether one can use them to supplement our Bryce arsenal. :^) When you come down to it, no subject is really off topic if you can relate it in some way to Bryce. :^)

Danamo: I'll thankyou not to spread malicious rumours about me! I examine ALL 3d progs to determine their sedicious nature. All you heretics better watchout.....LOL LunarTick: I'm hiring more staff to help me stop the pernicious encroachment of these darkside progs. Want a job?

@Shadowdragonlord- yes Rhino is an excellent modeler, if you want to model only machines, vehicles and various other artifacts made by humankind, but can your modeler do this!?Attached Link: http://gallery.mcneel.com/?language=en&g=10
This was my first attempt at a protoDragon head, in Rhino, a few months back... Not as smooth as I need it to be, but I've attached it to the Millenium Dragon's body and boned the neck and head parts in Poser before. It animates smoothly. I'll probably re-do it all soon. For Danamo : Yes, it can. Rhinoceros quite frankly leaves Wings in the dust, period. The only modelers that can realy keep up with Rhino...? There aren't any. Even Solidworks lacks many of the features of Rhino 3. To say that Rhino only does machines and cars and such is wrong, check out their website. Here's some more examples of what Rhino can do... http://rhino3d.com/graphics.htm http://gallery.mcneel.com/?language=en&g=11 http://gallery.mcneel.com/?language=en&g=9 http://gallery.mcneel.com/?language=en&i=12324 (The last is a really cool little ride...) I'm not really trying to be egotistical about this program, it's just a tool for me. But there's a reason that is costs so much money, and Wings is free... That sounds so f'in elitist, I think I'm gonna go wash my typing fingers out with soap...!well yeah..Rhino's near the top of the heap..and you get what you pay for (one thing I've noticed with Rhino...why all the wheel rims?..is it like the NVIATWAS or reflective spheres over the lake kinda thing?..;) hey, if someone gives me enough money to get Rhino..I wouldn't turn it down..but..for what I paid for it, Wings is a great bargain..;)

Yes, but Bryce doesn't have its own modeler. :^) And many of the regulars at the Wings Forum are regulars here as well. Discussions of modelers will be useful in the Bryce Forum IMHO until Daz does the right thing and packs a good modeler in with our favorite program. Then we can start complaining about all the things the Bryce Modeler can't do that Rhino, Wings, Amapi, etc. can. :^)

You all can discuss Nurbs or Subdivision surfaces till the end of world, but the real truth is, they complement each other more then anyone wants to admit !!! :) There are things where Nurbs do fail a lot...:O) In organic modeling, in order to animate model, polygon flow can (and must) be directed properly, this is a very important (usually overlooked) issue becouse poly models can bend only on their edges, and nurbs-to-mesh conversion is still far away from elegant solution for this, but when it comes to mechanical modeling nurbs do rule (very fast and accurate). I seen many organic models made in Rhino, for example, but hardly anyone animates them (ever wondered why?). All major packages have both (ever wondered why, again ?)!!! :) I am, and always will use both, if there is, like it used to be ( remember "Nurbana" project? ), free app which is similar to Rhinoceros, everybody would jump on it, and then, there would be no limits, ever :)

...Daz better come up with something really cool regarding Bryce and let us know about it, or else this place will become the defacto Wings3D auxillary forum. LOL! Not that it's a bad thing though. 8D (I'd think quite the contrary.) What do you think?
