Yup I did. 8) The xmas card contest over at DAZ and I got second place which is next best to first. The image was set up in P5 then exported into DS then exported to Bryce and there you go, a winning image. It's called "A cat's Christmas," and came to mind 'cos it is something my cats have always done, and every year it's the same, I set up the tree, at night the cat pulls it down, next day I set up the tree again, and you can imagine the rest. 8) Anyway I just thought I'd share my good fortune with my favourite people here at the ol' Bryce forum. 8) Catlin

Beautiful work!! You deserve every single bit of praise, and honor that the prize brought on! I like what your cats do every x-mas.. :-) Theys oundlike adorable brats..

Well hello dear Catlin, and a hearty congratulations!! That is a beautiful and heartwarming scene you've designed and rendered. I have a couple of "brat cats" of my own and I am anticipating them terrorizing my poor defenseless Christmas tree, lol. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Dan

But Catlin...you know you only put baubles on the tree to keep the cats amused. Well done on that 2nd prize.

Thanks peeps, this has just made me so happy 'cos I really didn't think I'd get anywhere with the quality of some of the Poser work that you see over there. I have a plan this year though to tie the tree, by all corners, to imovable objects and see if that will keep the tree upright. And I know you're right chohole, I just wish they could think, "oh that looks pretty," then leave the damn thing alone. lol 8) Catlin

kiwi_gg ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 11:24 AM

Congratulations on your win,the picture is really cool. As for brat cats,no problem here ours have gone into total retirement since we moved to town. Cheers 8) GG.

Excellent card!!! Congrats!!! On the issue of cats... We once put up our christmas tree parrallel to the floor...sticking out of the wall as it were. Supported it with a couple lines from the ceiling. The ornaments hung nicely still and it was all quite out of reach of the neighborhood cats. Of course, we were four single guys in our mid 20's so the avante garde approach worked well for us. :) Again, congrats on your success!!

sackrat ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 11:55 AM

Congatulations on the win ! Beautiful image. We used to have a cat named Tigger that would leave the tree alone but would love to get so close to the roaring fire that we came back into the room one time and her tail was smoking and singed from where she had actually gotten INTO the fireplace ! She was a real heatbug.

Congrats Catlin. Thats one great christmas card you have there. And remember, water and cats dont match. One of these are usually effective. At least until they forget about it... :)

well done marvellous image, makes me feel all warm and seasonal. our cat never touches the tree, its the kids pinching the chocolates off thats our problem.

Congratulations on an excellent image. Since the cats own the house and they're just letting you live with them they probably think they are just training you in this useful new skill of cat toy assembly. Just like parents with a baby's first steps they are justifiably proud that you have shown your first useful talent. After all, cats can only watch you pay bills, wash dishes, or sweep so long before becoming bored. If you were to leave the tree up year round Im sure the newness would wear off and they would leave it alone.

Congrats Catlin!! Love that entry. (we use the bottle too) ;)

If you left the balls lower, so they can get to all of them, the tree would remain standing. :-) congratulations!

Congrats on the win!!!! BTW tieing the tree to immovable objects won't help, the tree will be standing but the decorations will be all over the floor, more the worse for wear, cause they didn't have the tree for cushioning....take my word for it, I have 15 felines in house, 6 of which are newbies(8months)that haven't seen a Christmas tree yet,.......sigh......=)

I'd seriously consider moving the tree! It's just too near the fireplace and constitutes a major fire-hazard. As for the cat.....kick it outside. Our cat's seriously in the dog-house for doing things I won't mention here...... Congrats on your success though! ;-)

I got second place which is next best to first. ROTFL Lovely image, it would make a gorgeous Christmas card. The carpet is great, and the tree - in fact the whole thing! Congratulations.

Swade ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 2004 at 4:32 PM

Congratulations Catlin.... wait a minute.... Catlin?!?!? You still live!!! Cool work on your contest card. 2nd place is good. It isn't quite like getting first.... but it isn't a runner up. It is an actual winning place. 8) Our cats see me grab the squirt bottle and they flee, Cause they know they are gonna be wet... WET. Lol Hope we see a little more of you around here. Take care.

I'M ALIVE!!!!!! I thought that would freak some of you. lol 8D I used to have a water gun and used that to terrify the cats but it dissappeared one day and I've no idea what happened to it. Maybe those cats are sneekier than I thought. 8P Thank you all for your good wishes guys I really do apreciate it and I do intend to be here more regular it's just that I've been so busy recently and I'll be back studying geology again soon, thought I might even add some physics to that equation too. So I might only be in here in short bursts for a while. 8) Catlin

Congratulations. Thats a fantastic image! My tree is going into a room that we can close all the doors to unless we are in there this year. My mother has the kitten from hell this year. And yup we keep the water bottle very close at hand. :-D
