Subject: Victoria VS Stephanie question

Holli ( ) posted Mon, 27 December 2004 at 4:28 AM ยท edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 5:05 PM

Hello for some time now I use V3 with all the head and body morphs. I am very happy with my V3. A lot for additional things are avalible in the store or for free. Next on my wishlist is Stephanie from DAZ. But my question is "do I really need a second female charater ?" I have countless body morphs and skin textures already. Does Stephanie really make a big difference ? From my point of view (maybe I am wrong) I can squeeze the V3 mesh to almost every shape. What do I gain from a new and different geometry character ? Is there something Stephanie can do that V3 can not ? And maybe more imortant : What kind of V3 items can be used on Stephanie too ? thanks Holli

  • you can use all V3 skins on SP - poses need some tweaking - clothes are normally not exchangeable. To get a more "real" looking V3, you would need to do a lot of tweaking and saving morphs (changing sizes of individual polygons). SP is very versatile, less stereotypic than V3, and more "human". Her weakest point is the head. There are tutorials around (and it is not difficult at all!) to use V3's head on SP's body. This gives you a very good combination as you get the best of both. I am personally very happy I purchased SP.

I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)

On the other hand, I'm in the other camp. To me, Stephanie Petite has odd play-doh-y ribs that won't go away easily, bags under her eyes that don't go away easily, and an oddly long face that's difficult to morph. She's far scrawnier than most of the people I personally know and doesn't look very realistic to me at all. And her feet are oddly large.

I personally have morphs Victoria 3 into ages from 13 to 30+ without major problem. (I will admit the mesh tends to cave under the breasts when they're made smaller, but since the younger characters are always clothed, that's not a huge problem for me personally.)

My suggestion is to look at your work and your projects. Is there something you're trying to do that V3 isn't working for? Is there a Stephanie-only outfit that would be perfect? Is there a character for SP you just love? If you have a specific reason to get her, go for it. If not, why add another character to clothe?

thanks all so far maybe some people have to add another point of view

I love Stephanie Petite. She is very slender, but that's what I like about her. It's hard to make Vicky that willowy. No matter how much you morph V3, her hips stay wide. And you can't make her small-breasted very easily. Some adult women have small breasts, too; you can make SP flat-chested, if you want, without the mesh collapsing.

Her butt is also better. Most of DAZ's figures look weird from the rear, if they are kneeling, sitting, or bent over. The derriere gets huge. SP suffers much less from "exploding butt syndrome."

You can make V3's hips slender by using a negative (-.3 or so) value on the "Pear Figure" morph. I like V3 better, because I can get the body shape I want using Wyrmmaster's magnets. Steph 3 has been somewhat problematic -- I can get her looking good from the front, but then she doesn't look good from the side. The reverse is also true. I don't like Steph's big feet. I'm thinking about making a V3 foot morph. Steph does not have the clothes and shoes selection that V3 does.

I would get Stephanie only if you really like her and want to add a different less glamorous IMO character to your library. She requires different clothing, very hard to tweak anything other than a loin cloth between them. I do like Stephanie, she seems perkier than Vicki who is far too exquisitly beautiful for me to tell stories with her. I like little Steph, I also prefer David. But they do take more money to clothe. There are some wonderful new face morphs out there for Steph that take away the clunkiness of her features that turned me off at first. But still leave her slightly ungainly and Real. But, no, you don't Need Her. Emily

Netherworks has a free morph that makes SP's hands and feet smaller.

I've tried negative values of the pear shape morph, and the result is very unnatural looking and unattractive, IMO. Not like SP's coltish grace.

I think V3 and SP complement each other. SP is better for some characters, V3 better for others. If you like big bazongas, SP is not the character for you. You can make her boobs huge, but they don't look natural. Similarly, V3's small breast morphs don't look natural. V3's womanly hips suit some characters, SP's girlish, slender hips suit others.

I do like the way SP poses. Her JPs are different, and she seems more supple.

Netherworks has a package that scales the hands and feet. It does not do any morphing. His scaling is ok for the hands, but really messes up whatever footwear I'm using. Steph's big feet are a real problem, when converting V3 shoes -- the toes seem to get long and distorted. I think Steph is well suited for an athletic character. I just want to make her hot and sexy as well.

Yes, footwear won't fit rescaled feet, unless they were specially designed. I never really notice, because I don't have a lot of footwear for SP (except boots). It's usually pretty easy to fit shoes to other characters, so my SP is usually wearing V3's shoes. Or the PT's, or even Mike's. :-) I'm refitting them anyway, so her morphed feet don't really matter.
