Subject: Advise re buying Vue 4 d'Esprit for use with Poser Pro Pack

I've seen that Vue 4 has dropped massively in price to about 55 with the content and was thinking about getting this for use with Poser Pro Pack. Could anyone advise me on this? In particular, I'm wondering about how the rendering compares with Bryce 5 and what sort of speeds it has - does it make much use of OpenGL? I'm still on a fairly low end machine (2.8GHz with only 256RAM at the moment but I plan to up that to 512 next month and an Nvidia 128RAM graphics card) - will this be OK? Or, without getting a better machine, am I better to wait for the Bryce 5.5 upgrade for Poser use? Any thoughts welcome!

How about doenloading the demo version and try it out? That will give you a good impression what you will get. I think your 256 MB RAM is a little bit on the very low end. Even 512 MB will maybe not the ideal solution. But that is the same for all 3D applications. They are very RAM intensive. You can think about to buy even more RAM and stay with the old graphic card - if that is possible. Yes, Vue 4 does use OpenGL. But there are some issues with specific graphic cards. Thats why you should try it out - wether it works fine on your system or not. AND, I think on E-ons site there is a list of compatible graphic cards. You may have a look at that too. One BIG advantage of Vue is the perfect import of Poser files. You can open Poser files (pz3) directly and import that to Vue. Bryce can't do that. Just a little outlook. Vue 4 Pro and i expect Vue 5 Studio/Infinite are even able to detect changes in Poser pz3 files automatically and update the imported objects then. Not a bad thing for the workflow. But again, best is to try out the demo. Then you know exactly what you can expect.

Hi Philebus, I just downloaded Vue4 yesterday. As for the rendering, it is noticeably faster than Vue3.1 which is good news for me as I do a lot of animation. My machine is similar to yours, 3.1GHz but with 512MBs. This is good advice from wabe about the RAM. So far I haven't had any crashes but did with Vue3.1, always on animations. Since Vue4 works and I haven't changed anything on the PC, it must have been down to the software. Kevin
