Subject: Finally - A Tower! But?

Hi all, especially ysvry. I've finally managed to create the Tower. I've found it especially hard to do as I am not used to working in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" method, and I've found it extremely difficult to remember all the keys (astually I couldn't and had to keep refering to the instructions). Even harder to figure out was how to save, it seems you use backspace to remove the word "untitled" where it says "untitled.blend" and instead you then type in your own name, like "Tower1" or whatever... phew! Took me ages and ages to figure that out. Finally I've got a Tower... only there's a slight problem, as you may be able to see from the image, the causeway, (for which there were no instructions, so I'm quite pleased that I managed anything like this at all) but it's not level. How can I get it level??? ysvry??? And what is "smoothed with simple subdivide on" how to I do that? ysvry? Michel? Pretty please? Fran

Right, I'll try that. Thanks. Um... I would like to know how to export - and yes, I've found the "Export" button, under File, but when I tried to use it I wasn't sure (and obviously got it wrong 'cos it didn't save anything) exactly HOW to export. I have hunted through the manual - all three sections - and although "Import" is mentioned, I can't find "Export" (even if I could understand it). I want to export as... "TowerA.dxf" - since I can't find any .obj options to export under. (Which is what I really wanted, but dxf will do.) I mean, WHERE do I type the name I want to export it under? And then what do I press? Please help? (and you didn't explain wht you mean't by "smoothed with simple subdivide on" - do you think you could explain that? I.e. tell me how to do it? Please? Aha, that'll be why my attempts at exporting didn't work. Oh, don't worry about the knitting, I've never managed to figure that out, so I picked up a ball of wool, looked at it, and thought... NAH! (ggg) Besides, modelling is much more exciting! Hey, did yu see, did yu see? I did the causeway all by myself! (proud expression) (did it wrong, but hey, don't knock it, could come in useful) I'm one of the "never-throw-anything-away" school of thought. I'm off to install python then. Fran

Yup, will do, thanks. I've installed python but there's still no option to export as .obj I can export as a dxf, but I can't get that into Wings. Is there any way to assign different materials to different faces in Blender? Fran

I've managed to get the Tower into Bryce, but with it all one object, there's some problem with textures. See Image. That's why I want to be able to assign different textures to different parts of it. Fran
