Subject: Using imported hair???

Wfire3 ( ) posted Sun, 17 April 2005 at 7:34 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 1:33 PM

Hey guys I have a simple question (not so simple for me tho actually...) I finally got clothes on my very first poser figure! But the problem is.... she`s bald! (;_;)

I downloaded some hair for Vicky 3 that I want to use for her but everytime I load the hair into the scene, it loades in the middle of her face instead of at the top of her head.... As I just started useing the program a few weeks ago, I don`t really know how to move it...

Actually Im having trouble moving objects areound the screen in general... Can anyone tell me how to move things and how to get the hair to the top of her head and make it stay there? I dont think the "Conform to figure" tool works for hair....

Im currently studying DR. Geeps very helpful tuts but I havent gotten to the hair part yet cuz Im still learning the basice... Just want to learn how to use the hair that I downloaded I guess...

Can someone pls help?

If you are loading the hair from the Figure library, then you should conform it.

If you are loading it from the Hair library it may not be for V3, but there may be a "fit" pose available, but you'll need to post some details about the item.

You downloaded hair for V3 but are you trying to apply them to V3 or to another model?

Thanks guys! Im trying to apply it to Vicky3 and Im loading it from the Hair library. The name of the hair is Alice Hair and Im sure its for V3... Does the conform command work in the hair library?

Does your thumbnail look like the one on the left or the right ? Left is P4, right is V1/2.

If it's neither then there must be another item with the same name or a new version which I don't have.

Mine looks like the one on the left! Will this one work for V3?

I just checked the readme file for Alice Hair and in fact, it says for Posette and for Vicky. MANY Poser products are for VICKY but for us newbies of V3 era, it is quite confusing. Now, after a year of downloading freebies and reading readme files, when I see it says for Vicki, I assume it is for V2 and not V3 BUT it happened that it was for V3. ;o)) But this hair is definitely NOT for V3. As I am a "hair maniac", I am 99% sure there is no other hair named Alice Hair. So if yours is not that model, please tell me where you got it. ;o)) France

Yep, its that model alright... So the hair I got wont work for V3 (;;) Can you please tell me where I can get some good V3 hair? I`d really appreciate it cuz she looks kinda wierd with a police uniform and SWAT vest and no hair.... (^^)

Attached Link: http://www.digitalbabes2.com/

http://www.digitalbabes2.com/ Kozaburo site, same place you got Alice Hair. He has lots of BEAUTIFUL hair for many models. Read the notes beside each thumbnail. He has 2 full pages of hair models. France

You could also use Netherworks' conversion kits.

hair, with some tweaking, is among the most transferrable of additions to figures..definately get the Kozaburo stuff, look for Maya Doll, you can use stock Poser stuff, and go through freebies looking for hair..there's plenty to be had..

There are X Y and Z Translate dials on the hair. Use them to move it to position, then use the X Y Z Scale dials to make it fit. You'll need to Parent the hair to the head after you do all this, because it won't move with the figure otherwise. One other tip: A lot of hair loads in semi visible, as a series of dots. Go to the Display menu, select "Element Style" and change it to Cartoon With Lines. Et voila! The hair is visible again. It will render properly but the Cartoon With Lines view makes it easy to position, scale and pose.

Strange. I have AliceHair_Vicky from Koz, and don't have problems using it for V3. Here is a quick draft render.

I simply go to Library/Hair and my Koz folder and load the hair. No need to conform (greyed out), and you can't parent it either. The thumbnail I have in my library is the one on the right, above.

what Sam said in post 12 above, with this added: sometimes you have to scale the hair up or down. I've had pretty good success fitting many different hairs on many different models just with x-y-z and scale, then parent. ::::: Opera :::::
