Subject: props question

Hi I have a prop made up of multiple props and I have a nice clean UV template for each component (there's only 2 obj involved in making the final prop) I want to keep the obj as is e.g. I don't want to make one obj from the group as it will reduce my texture opions and quality of the template. At the moment everything is parented to the first component in the prop for moving around but I want to group the lot somehow & keep the previously mentioned obj seperate. Anybody come across this issue before? Thanks Bri

Poser is happiest when separate pieces are treated as separate 'body parts'. (This is especially true of the Firefly renderer.) If you build the whole thing as a figure, you can Lock the parts that shouldn't move, or hide their parameters while leaving the names on the menu for convenience in assigning materials. Here's an example....

That's great, thanks ockham...should have looked beyond keeping it as a prop I guess ;O) cheers Brian

Making one OBJ from the group won't reduce your texture options, as long as you give each part its own material zone. You can keep the UV mapping and the separate textures that way.

The main reason a figure hangs together and a multi part prop does not is because in a figure the translation dials are hidden for all actors except BODY and hip. Hide the translation dials in the parented prop and it will hang together like a figure, without having to convert it to a figure. If the child is somthing like a drawer in a chest of drawers that has to translate then set limits on the translations rather than hiding them.

              translateX xtran

                    {

                   name GetStringRes(1028,12)

                  initValue 0

                 hidden

Or (for example)

            translateX xtran

                    {

                   name GetStringRes(1028,12)

                  initValue 0

                 hidden 0

                    forceLimits
