Attached Link: Challenge Page

Hey, all! After quite a bit of feedback from you all, I figured a great way to get things feeling more comfy here is to have a challenge. And what better challenge than to create new banners for the DAZ|Studio forum! The contest begins tonight, May 15th, 2005, and ends Wednesday, June 15th, 2005 at Midnight Renderosity time. If you have any questions or concernes, please post them here, and I'll try to help as much as I can ;). MS D|S Mod.

Are there any specifications as to banner size, resolution, etc? Sounds like fun. :)

All of the info is on the challenge page in the link, but the banner size needs to be 468x60. :) MS

How much postwork is permitted?

JenX ( ) posted Tue, 17 May 2005 at 4:29 PM

Postwork is permitted, however, keep in mind that the banners are going to be for the DAZ|Studio forum/gallery, so we'd like to keep it recognizeable as somewhat 3D imagery. That said, text is fine, correction is fine, but we'd rather you didn't just render a figure and then complete an entire painting over the top of it ;). MS

The best way to answer that would be to say this. It would be ok, BUT, keep in mind that the challenge is to use DAZ|Studio to the best of your ability. DAZ|Studio can do some pretty amazing things, so if you need help with anything, feel free to give a holler ;) MS

I think I'm out then, I know too little of Daz Studio to do anything with it. It's only since a week or so ago when I got the dragon that I even managed to get ANYTHING to even OPEN in Daz, that I began to use Daz at all. I never did figure out why the figures wouldn't open.

M3 & V3 - the free ones. I didn't bother using them - or rather trying any harder to use them since I found that in Bryce they have plastic hair, eyelashes and eyebrows... so what's the point? So as I couldn't get them into Daz Studio, I just gave up. I can now get M3 into Daz but as I said, what's the point? The hair and beard I bought to use with it doesn't work, although I AM going to try the dot-and-carry-one method of moving the hair/beard as you or jroulin (can't remember) told me about... Thing is... will I be able to pose the figure after moving the beard etc or will I have to do that before everything else like posing, clothing etc?

Get the beard lined up with M with M3 in the default pose, then go to the Scene palette. In the paltte menu (triangle button at top-right) select Close all to tidy it up. Select M3's head in the viewport, and the tree in the Scene palette will expand to show that. Now grab the beard's entry in the Scene palette and drag it onto M3's head's entry - the beard is now parented and will follow the head as you pose Michael.

RHaseltine, "the beard is now parented and will follow the head as you pose Michael." Ah... thanks, I'll try that. It's very good to know that even with it being for another Mike I can fix it so I can move mike about, thanks very much.
