Subject: Carrara and Photoshop Plugins

I am attempting to install and setup all of my 'metacreations' software. Can anyone tell me how one actually links Photoshop plugins directly into Carrara 1.0.1? The book says... quoting from the RDS5 manual I note... to use the File-Menu>Preferences>Imaging,Scratch Disk dialog to set a reference folder (in WIN98), but this does nothing for me. No dialog is availble. I could of course dump my '*.bmp' from Carrara to Painter and post process there, but the book says I can use these filters in Carrara. Help! Thanks for the help ahead of time. Metacreations was called on that one when Carrara first came out. They said it was a typo.Seems they were in such a hurry to dump their product line that they pumped everything out in a big hurry, including the manual.

I know that in Bryce you just go into the Terrain Editor and you can find the plugins from there. I'm not too sure with Carrara, I've been looking for the area to add the Photoshop Plugins, but I haven't found it yet. Good luck and if you find it PLEASE let me know.

I emailed Metacreations specifically on this one when I first got Carrara. To be plain, they totally lied in the manual, listing a feature they hoped to have but never implented, and "forgot" to take it out of the manual when they released the product. I hope Eovia rectifies this, but as it stands, that feature does not exist. Carrara cannot utilize photoshop filters internally. Made me pretty angry at the time, too. --

Thanks to all for the quick answers. I'm glad to find there is such an active community associated with Carrara. I suspect there are many such glitches in the Carrara release we have. Here's hoping Eovia is successful... and soon! Thanks, Ev
