It does in Photoshop. When you choose a resolution, you have the option of resampling the image or not. If you check "resample image", then the picture size will increase with increased resolution. If you elect not to check "resample", the printed image will be smaller than the original with increased resolution. I don't think you have that problem in Poser. The higher the resolution, the longer it takes to render, but you still get to set your image size. Your best bet if you use Poser and Photoshop, is to increase the resolution of the images you want to print from the default 72 dpi to at least 96 or higher, if you've got the memory. That way, when you take it to Photoshop for postwork, you should get the same size image when you set your resolution. Sorry, message so long. I hope it helps.
Also, what you are printing onto can effect the resolution you need. For example, I recently had a poster designed for A4 printing on paper printed onto canvas about twice as big. Same resolution, but looked even better on the canvas.

When one wants to print picture out on printer does it matter what resolution document is rendered to in relation to what size print is needed?
