I usually take conventional pictures as you can see in my gallery but with the help of all of you guys, I begin to try some experiments. I took this picture yesterday evening. It's a castle lighted by candles. Do you think it could be interesting to keep it, or it is definitely a bad one ? Thank's for comments, and don't be afraid, I'm ready for criticism !

It is indeed a pretty cool effect with those candles. You didnt take a "normal" nightshot of it though, at the exact same angle? If you did, you might wanna blend those two together, cause i wish i could see more of the castle than i do in this one. And as far as the presentation goes, i think you should try to use a smaller and less distracting fontsize. Just my 3 swedish kronor though. smiley.gif

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

While its fun to experiment, which digital allows you to do to your hearts content, I don't feel there's really any purpose/focus to this image! Some may consider it a cool kinda abstract, but this "effect" is more of a ooops shot(IMO), which can easily be recreated by moving the camera while using slow shutter speeds. I've got a bunch of this kinda stuff! Nightshots that I had tried handheld, causing the light trails and blur! This was before I started luggin my tripod with me! You can do some wicked captures...painting with light, just by setting up a tripod and messing around with slow shutter and a small LED flashlight! I've included an example of using a tripod with a 15 second exposure just to give an idea of other possibilites! Here I captured the car lights and the movement of the clouds! Again... there's nothing wrong with experimenting! That's how we learn new ways of doing things! My 2.5 cents! Joe

Light in the dark always look beautiful but as Joe said there's no real purpose to this image IMHO! It's nice to look at because of the colors but that's it. BUT....If YOU like it, keep it!!! cos that's what matters in the end! ;)

Zacko is right, I'd better mixed it with a focused one. Unfortunately, I didn't took one... So, it will be a lesson for a next try. I keep it for my personnal album. Thnk's for all those honnest advices. Joe : your effect is pretty cool because a part of the picture is focused. I'll try to do the same next time...
