Sorry, no FLASH into- just the news that Senosoft is in the final stages of beta-testing a new version upgrade to P3dO- the absolutely INDESPENSABLE 3D browser made by the software WIZARD known as YARP...

It will read Vue 5 Infinite Mats, Vobs, etc...

Finally I can see MOST of my Vue 5 stuff again in a MUCH MORE convient and useful, and INFORMATIVE way...

Previously P3dO could read Vue 3 and 4 stuff- but when E-On changed their file formats- P3dO could no longer read the V5 stuff...

...but YARP signed a contract with E-ON allowing accress to their proprietary V5 file formats so that NOW Vue 5 and Vue 5 Infinite users can really FIND STUFF again!

(Wow! this is a MAJOR improvement!)

P3dO will also read other V5 stuff like Atmospheres, CLOUD mats, Functions (but not filters)- and make Vue Rendering Life much more fun and productive again!

There ARE a few problems still- not ALL V5 items can be read- instead just an icon shows up. YARP is working on this- and it is the reason it is still in BETA. But he believes the new upgrade will be released by the end of October...

My OWN suggestion to E-ON is that they will IMPROVE the thumbnail sizes of V5 VOBS, Materials, etc- so that P3dO can actually display them at the LARGER thumbnail resolution that P3dO is capable of..

Here I've shown that the Material Editor can have a MAT re-rendered at a larger viewing size. BUT- you can't do this will VOBS and other V5 stuff..

Why NOT? Many of my VOBS are extremely hard to see already.
The thumbnails are just TINY! Unfortunately P3dO cannot do anything about this- as E-ON needs to enable a large file preview...

Someday- I would like to be able to view VOBS like this!

An editor that would show a LARGER rendered view, and also show PATHS to associated bitmaps, etc. This could be done too in P3dO now, actually, if we had the option of LARGER previews-which could be SAVED as BIG THUMBNAILS...

...Wouldn't that be GREAT?

This looks promising! And yes my old eyes dislike the tiny thumbs....so larger is always better :)

lingrif ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2005 at 6:33 PM

This looks really neat - I'll be watching for it. I agree about thumbnail size. Current size in Vue is too small..

Wonder if Google could be talked into supporting some 3D programs? I like their free Picasa database. Won't read .VOB of course.

Nice advertisement.

Yes, YARP (Laurent Crepiliere) of Senosoft has been providing FREE software to the Poser and Vue communities for MANY years already. It's one of the best and most useful contributions of anyone out there that I can think of. I have used it every day for... 3-4 years? P3dO is of very high professional quality and is loaded with many features, including more useful utilities coming up in a future release...

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 9:03 AM

So this is a free item? Marque

Djeser ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 9:56 AM

Attached Link: http://www.senosoft.com/

The basic P3DO is freeware; you can get P3DO PRO, which is inexpensive, but indispensible, imvho. I've been using it for quite a while. I imagine the update will be to the Pro version. Link is to Yarp's site.

Well if it's not free why is it in here cluttering up the forums? This isn't a discussion this is an ad, can't believe some folks can do this and others get slammed. Marque

Djeser ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 12:22 PM

I think it's here because it could provide a valuable tool for folks using Vue! I don't see one topic as "cluttering up the forums", Marque, and I for one am grateful that Veritas posted about this.

I don't normally wade into events like this, Marque ('specially considering you're a "motorcycle mama" wink) but I'll take a stab at why... First you have to "know" V777. He gets excited about things and spends a lot of time showing his excitement with images. Personally, I like his enthusiasm. Since Infinite came out, he's been sucked down its "blackhole" (LOL). So, I'd say he's excited about a piece of software and want to share the information with the Vue community/forum. And, unless others know differently, he gets nothing from it. Now, before some of you remind me of the people who are, hmmmm, "associated" with some vendors and "parade" around innocently hyping certain products for a certain vendor all the time, well, I don't think V777 falls into this category. As far as I'm concerned, it's no different than people who find a really nice plugin for Photoshop and post a few images (and a link) with it so others can see what it can do. Additionally, this just might be a freebie (for the basic version) update that shows Vue info...I don't know, I haven't even clicked on the link.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 3:57 PM

Heh! What a CYNICAL world some live in! This is the VUE Forum- people talk about the Lightwave-V5I bundle with excitement- are THEY getting paid by NewTek? Isn't talking about the products DIRECTLY affecting your Vue Software experience part of the Vue Forum?.... Jezzzz! So here's what YARP's latest news release (on the Senosoft website) says- October 17th Announcing P3dO 1.7.8 P3dO Explorer 1.7.7 "Well, well. Seems like everybody's eager to see that 1.8 and I have still lot of things to do. Here's how it goes : Since the beginning of september I can't stop adding new stuff to the release. As a consequence I see the 1.8 could take another month to be available. People who are waiting for updates - like Vue users for the Vue 5 thumbnails - will have their stuff now, and others will be able to request improvements while the release is still under construction. Since it is not an official version 1.7.8 won't be available on the download page. Come back next week on this page to see where to get it." So- I haven't seen anything there SO FAR- that says anyone has to PAY for this P3dO update! YARP has been an EXTREMELY generous guy (Of course- some must SUSPECT he has an EVIL Purpose for his generosity!!!) He DOES sell a PRO version- but that's because it has a LOT more features than the standard version. I personally don't own the Pro Version...

Veritas777 ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 4:11 PM

BTW- I sent in my suggestion that E-ON consider INCREASING the size of the VOB thumbnails- and I got back an email saying basically "Nice idea! We will look at doing this". ******************************************************** ...and I have learned that you CAN create the future you want by advocating positive changes in things and events. That's why I'm so ENTHUSIASTIC- I've been advocating things for many years with a POSITIVE attitude- and surprisingly nearly all of it actually happens. E-ON is one of the few major 3D software companies where you can STILL have some DIRECT impact on the features they add. So, instead of just WHINING about something- show them in a POSITIVE way how a new feature could improve things- and I'm sure they will consider it....

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 4:36 PM

I will not hesitate to tout a product I really like then, including screenshots. Have been slammed for doing that and just wondered why some of us are chastized for it and some not. Enough said. Thanks, Marque

dlk30341 ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 6:04 PM

I'll add this. It's not often a Product comes out that is Vue SPECIFIC. They are few & far between. In addition, this forum isn't as active as the Poser forum, where ads would soon take over, therefore, this forum isn't ruled with quite the iron-fist(in this area) as Poser. Hope this helps :)

Phantast ( ) posted Wed, 19 October 2005 at 5:15 AM

I have an earlier version of P3DO and like it enormously. I didn't know that P3DO was expanding into the Vue world, and I am grateful to Veritas777 for posting this information, which is useful to me.
