Subject: Woot! Thanks e-frontier! 3 Favorite fixes

byAnton ( ) posted Fri, 11 November 2005 at 12:16 AM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 1:45 AM

I know some of you are going to look sideways at me as if to say "that is what you are excited about?!?", but I am thrilled about three issues I asked be fixed.

  1. -Firefly gagging on fragmented obj files(people should still use Spanki's Stomp to reduce file sizes)

  2. -TargetGeom dials (with actual Delta's) having sensitivity randomized upon cr2 load

  3. -Magnet base being replaced with instance of any obj already imported with the nane "Base"

Thankie!

We just had a discussion about 2). Have they actually fixed the randomized 'trackingScale' issue with TargetGeom? Have they fixed it generally? That would be a nice move forward. :)

Seems fine. I loaded the cr2 and the values in Poser matched the cr2. No randomizing.

Not sure what you mean by "generally". When I put (actual deltas), I meant that Master erc dials without deltas weren't ever randomized before, just actual morph dial sensitivity.

And also, Poser now remembers file locations and if you import an obj file as morph, the name of the obj is already there as name of the morph. A lot of small fixes but thay make life a little bit easier.

But my favourite is still missing: glowing material like in Vue :-(

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 11 November 2005 at 4:50 AM

My favourite is the fix for the figure circle. The setting is actually remembered now, and I don't need to switch it off manually every time I launch Poser. Now, if they'd only fixed the preview setting for transparency display ....

Francemi ( ) posted Fri, 11 November 2005 at 5:10 AM

Little Dragon, the preview setting for transparency display was the only fix that interested me... seems I'll have to wait. ;o( BUT I found out, quite by accident, that if you save your project as a pz3/pzz, when you open it again, the transparent objects show up in the document window if you saved it with texture shade view. This is not new with SR2, I found that out before I installed SR2.

If only they'd fixed the artifacts in the fresnel node, or at least added a ray bias parameter to it so you could fix the problem yourself :-(

I'd rather have updates regularly than waiting two or three quarters between updates. I am sure their "to-do" list isn't finished yet.

I think we should make sure they are morally supported and not discouraged. We need them enthuised

I'm with Little Dragon. That Figure Circle bug gave me conniptions. Glad to see it's been stomped. Haven't delved into the others yet but so far the renders seem a tad faster.

In regards to Tranparancy Display ....

I was referring to the preview engine's transparency display setting in render options. At launch, it always defaults to 90%, instead of retaining my preferred setting of "Actual".

Oh, I agree. So far, I haven't found anything new broken by this update. Good work!

The Translate channel as pointed out by lesbentley in this thread. Message edited on: 11/11/2005 11:29

One nice addition to Python: it's FINALLY possible to set up a full-body morph through Python. I've modified my Mag-to-Morph script to take advantage of this change.

Mmm...is this a P6 thread? Sounds like P5 problems, too.

Yep, that danged Figure Circle was a nightmare. And it only affected some people. A lot of folks thought I was crazy. 'Just switch it off and save your preferred state' they'd say. Yeah, right.... mac
