Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
Poser exports the 'Spline-based' dynamic hair as a polygonal representation. Dynamic hair in Poser isn't polygonal (at least in the way it exports). Any hair polygons in Poser are generated for the Document window and renderer. If you import the mesh back into Poser, you won't get back your dynamic hair. You'll just have that polygonal mesh!

xantor, I don't think he wants to sell it or anything, just use it LW. That should be okay as long any end results of use are renders and not, say, a 3d model for sale (or giveaway if using someone elses' dynamic hair). :)

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. No, this is something I made, admittedly rather quickly, as a test. I suddenly got curious as to whether it could be exported and imported into LW. I'm looking at it like this: If what kuroyume0161 says is true, about it being a spline and not a mesh, then that makes it fair game...like if I used a LW primitive to build a whole new model off of. Using this particular feature of Poser as a modeling program.
As xantor mentions, it depends on the source. If you created the hair in Poser yourself instead of just exporting an existing dynamic hair, you should have no issues redistributing. If it comes down to it, you can always 'duplicate' the existing dynamic hair yourself, keeping something unique about it to allow for a distinguishing factor that would avoid any legalities. :)

I thought it was some sort of render effect, but it seems it can be exported. Doesn't look the same, of course, but it's still some polys in a general shape. So, can I take that mesh, alter it, UV map it, texture it, and call it my own?
