Better how? I prefer the D|S interface, but others prefer Poser. Opinions differ similarly on the renders they make. Poser has a lot of features (rigging, dynamic cloth and hair, many more surface setting options, finer animation controls) that D|S lacks (at least as yet - it seems highly likely that rigging abilities will be added, we've been told that animation enhnacements are planned, and some of the others may come in some form). Poser also has a number of addons available in the form of Python scripts (Wardrobe Wizard to convert clothing, a particle generator the name of which I can't recall, the new ragdoll engine which allows figures to fall realisitically) which D|S lacks (but we know they are working on an SDK that will allow similar things to be made). The things D|S has are mostly interface related - multiple undos, the ability to select and work on multiple parts at once, the ability to save material presets from within the application, the ability to modify how presets are applied) rather than headline features.
One thing to always remember, everyone has preferences based on what they want, and what they are best at. the first thing you need to do, is to figure out what you want from the software. Even the convenient features can end up being nothing more than decoration if you don't use them, or need them. An example, I prefer to work in machine language, and i have a friend who gets lost after the second instruction. Yet, it's no contest when he's running C++... it suits him, but not me. Hope this helps. Lou.
"..... and that was when things got interestiing."
If you've not found anything yet that you want to do in D|S and can't, then I'd hold off buying Poser. I have both, but only bought Poser after I started creating content. You can't rig figures in D|S, so I had to have Poser. I still do all my renders in D|S (I HATE Poser's light setup), and much prefer its interface.
I prefer studio. I think even if I wasn't a relative newbie to 3D art I would still choose it over poser. I think its more important to build up a vast library of content, and that is far easier and quicker with studio because you don't have to pay anything for the core program itself and therefore can concentrate on content. I also think that daz content is extemely good quality and easy to install.
Daz does everything I would want from a program at this stage, and I can't say many of the bonuses of paying the money for poser appeal to me a great deal.
The daz interface also looks nicer than poser's, it is far easier to add and modify content, change camera angles, use morphs etc. The actual 3d window is much larger and looks far better. Really nice program overall.
Generally speaking it's a matter of taste, someone works best with D|S, others prefer Poser, but if you like to work with D|S If you want to make nice renders D|S is enough, just take a look at the Daz Studio gallery to see what beautiful images you can create with it. And I agree with PickersAngel. If you want to make content then you need Poser, since you can't make Poser content with D|S (except for INJ files, I think someone was able to make the musing D|S and Poser Little Help, there's a post about this on the Daz studio forum) I have both D|S and Poser 6 (I started using Poser at version 3 and never was completely satisfied with interface) and use both, but D|S interface I like better especially for the way you can navigate trough content.
Thanks everyone for the replies so far. Still considering it all. I think maybe I'll stick to Daz at the moment since it's fairly easy to use/learn. I would really like to create my own clothes for characters though, so mabye one day I'll progress to Poser, unless Daz eventually has similar capabilities. Please don't stop the opinions coming - they're all very helpful.
Hi guys, I've been using Studio since the first public release and it's great. I do not own Poser so don't no much about it except Poser 3 when it was on a cover magazine years ago. For me the only thing missing in Studio .. the rigging capabilities. I'd love to make my own clothes, props ..... because it's sometimes difficult to find the right clothe, prop to fit my characters. I know Studio one day will have a plug-in for that but when..? I need it now...... By the way .. is it possible to rig something with Poser 3 ( the free one not the full version)..? Thanks

Having great fun with Daz Studio, so now I'm wondering if Poser 6 is better, and should I get it. I've never used any of the Poser programs and would really appreciate some opinions as to in what way one is better than the other.
