Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 11 8:37 pm)
A lot of it is trial and error, I am afraid but start here for tutorials on Poser. Many people also do all there figure work in Poser only to export to either Vue or Bryce for the wealth of terrain, lighting, rendering and placement options available in those program. I too would love a truly integrated product that can do it all, but I wouldn't want to pay for it. smile Here are the best sites I have found so far for tutorials ... http://www.e-frontier.com/article/archive/318/ http://www.renderosity.com/tut.ez?Sectionid=12356 http://www.runtimedna.com/mod/filelib/index.php?section_id=25 Enjoy!
I tend to do the reverse; create landscapes with models in Bryce (or you could use Terragen), save as a picture, then Import|Background, and position Poser lighting to suit..;) Dr. Geep has an excellent (well, it's the only one I've actually used..;) tutorial on backgrounds.
You can create models and import them into Poser; with the exception of .max files, most formats seem to work ok. The trick is to make sure of the edges; sometimes you have to bevel them a 'touch' (say .005 or so), to create a surface, instead of an edge, so that you get details.
Weld Identical Vertices when importing (usually), and you have options for size and placement of the object when importing. Note- Posers' sense of scale is way different from most other programs; exports from Poser tend to be teeny, imports into Poser tend to be huge (if 100%). Hope this helps.

It is possible. I would say load your prop (house, car) first and position it how you want it in the scene. Load your figure up, clothes hair and the like, find a sitting pose that is close enough to your needs and apply to figure. You'll probably find you will need to adjust the pose just a little to get exactly what you want, but finding something as close as possible can help save some time after your figure is where you want it. Once that's done, select the figure's body and then move into position with x,y,z tran dials. It can help to get things where you want a little better to switch between the main camera and the posing camera as you move your figure into position. for a car...depending on angle and if doors are open or not, you can probably get away with hiding everything from the hips down for your render. This might help with getting your figure inside and set up as you'd only need to worry about the upper body that will be seen.
Crazy alien chick FTW! (yeah....right....)

I am new to Poser, I can add backgrounds to my characters but I would like to do the same with models (ruins, buildings interiors and exteriors) I would also like to know how to position characters in relation to a model. Are there any tutorials which cover this topic??? Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Zahratustra
