Because an artist wanted larger ones? Some figures have separate materials for iris, pupil, ect. Some have only one material group, and you control size by built in morphs.

well it's a V3 and I thought regardless of the texture size it gets mapped onto the eye object which I have morphed to a certain size so I thought the iris would always be that size no matter what the person who made the texture did. Love esther

Let me get this right.. you morphed the iris size down, but do not want it smaller? Also are you talking iris(the colored part), or pupil (the black part)? I'm not sure if you are using a morph set, or what, but some moprh sets have settings for both iris and pupil sizes. (Heck, some even have cat or goat iris shapes as well!)

Hehe. Well I have a morphed V3 and I like the iris size the way it is, but when I apply certain mat pose files the iris gets bigger or smaller just with a change in texture on the eyes. these are not labelled as mor files just mats. Love esther ps going to bed now.

in order for the larger iris mats to only cover the "iris" material, you will have to manually remove it from the "eyewhite" material of the eye. example Thorne and Sarsa eyes when they make their irises they extend the iris onto the eyewhite material, therefore making it look bigger, morphs are not going to change this. change the eyewhite material to one of the mats you have with a smaller iris. hope that helps :0) -3dz

I would guess that many map makers using photo samples simply align the outside diameter of the eyewhite sample to the template and let the iris and pupil just fall where they may. Because the three areas are concentric on the V3 template, they still generally look ok even if they cross over the individual material zones, i.e. the iris portion on the map may be larger or smaller than the actual iris material zone on the template and still look "normal".
