If you're using Photoshop, you need to go to Edit/Preferences and uncheck a few things, such as saving a thumbnail and ICC profiles and maybe something else. I don't have Photoshop on this computer, so I can't be more specific. Other things that can be done are reducing the JPG quality or switching to GIF.

Use the Save for Web option. That will reduce the size without massively degrading your image.

What I do to make a thumbnail is to open a new blank image in the dimensions of the thumbnail (200x200 pixels). Then I copy my gallery image and paste it as a new layer to the blank image and then move the image layer around until I see something I like. I then use "File" and "Export" and pick "jpg" and then adjust the compression to the minimum number that squeaks me just under the 15 kb in size limit. I always end up with a good quality thumbnail doing that.

I want to post my first images but I keep getting an error message that the thumbnail is too big. I try to reduce it in photoshop but the resolution gets so low to reach 15 K that it isn't visually acceptable. Suggestion? Thanks!
