Some of you may know that i've been working on a suit of platemail for posette. You also know i havn't updated in a couple of weeks. Well this is because while there was some progress being made there were no visual updates. To be honest there still aren't. However., grouping is completely finnished. as is UV mapping. You'll notice there are some new pieces to the set. I did half gauntlets, as well as an agincourt style sword, and a heater shield. Logan keeps pushing for me to make a swordbelt and scabbard but i'm not sure. The outfit is starting to look cluttered to me, and i don't really see where a swordbelt would go cleanly. Also i don't know at this point just how i'd manage to get it modled :) Attaching a few screenies so you can see how things are progressing. I'll probably start on CR2's next week.

and another angle. I'm pretty sure the weird lines on the boots are caused by the lighting i used during the test render ... They havn't been in other test renders using diffrent lights.

not sure :) once i get CR2's built i'll then have to set about the rsr/png's and then pack it all up and throw it in free stuff probably another week or two.. i hope .. could be longer depending on how much cr2 trouble i have with it.

Wow, you're "GIVING" it away, that is just "sooooooo" generous!

lol i've given both my previous arnmours for posette away .. the scalemail and the fantasy armour. Oddly the fantasy armour is very similar to this one.

"Logan keeps pushing for me to make a swordbelt and scabbard" Hey I need something to occupy myself while standing by to beta ;) This is a particularly beautiful armor set. The hip pieces are wonderfully modeled and a scabbard breaking up thier lines may not be the most visually pleasing idea ive had. Its probably most likely that the owner of such a set would easilly afford a mount, so most likely her swords scabbard would be fixed to her horses barding. One last idea for the possibility of a scabbarded sword with the armor: Would it seem that this armor could incorporate a back scabbard? Is this sword of a short enough blade that it could be drawn over the shoulder?

Awesome !

Cant wait to play with it. :-)

And many thanks for your great Scalemail Armour, too:

Thanks for letting us know! I just DL'd your other suits, now it's time to dust off P4F again! = )

logansfury ( ) posted Sun, 26 February 2006 at 8:23 PM

Stahl thats a REALLY strong pose and expression. Do you do all your poses from scratch or do you tweak from starter poses? Larry, he made the mistake of giving me his ICQ num, its all on him now! XD thanks for the link going to check that out now Angel, you have several chars to choose from to fit to those awesome armor suits! Posette of course, taking all the posette face and body morphs out there PosetteV3 free hybrid, V2 textures, V3 faces if youve the DAZ head morph packs, and Posettes body to morph and to conform the armor to. Ive been given permission from Netherworks to redistribute both the 2003 and 2005 versions of these hybrids, so PM me if you need/want them Vicki2P4 retail comes bundled with Victoria 2.0. Takes V2/1 textures, takes V2 facemorphs (some really nice ones out there of these, but rare unfortunately) and for some reason when I try to use the Posette body morphs on Vicki2P4 my Pro Pack locks up and has to be exited and restarted. NEA of course, is stahl's baby :) I belive she is an improved mapping and jointed Posette and should take all Posette conformers. I havent heard of all of hybrids im sure, and Ive yet to test some Im aware of, like Posette 2003 from Jim Burton. But there is some really killer content out there, playing with Mordikar's armors will definately re-excite you about Posette :)

Thank you for the kind words, Logansfury.

I rarely use premade poses, and so yes, I did that pose from scratch.

As for your V2P4 bodymorph problems, the reason is that all of the DAZ legacy figures like V2P4, M2P4, V3toV2, M3toV2 and StephP4 are only regrouped and SHAPED to match the older figures bodys, but keep their original geometry.
The regrouping even prevents them from taking their own bodymorphs, so for example V2P4 cant take neither V2 nor Posettes bodymorphs.

To keep a morphing body, you must use the actual geometry. Thats why I built my own StephanieP4 from AprilYSHs remapped Stephanie I and NEA.
(And she can use V2 textures while the DAZ StephP4 needs Stephanie I textures)

Heres the current lineup:
Image hosting by Photobucket

In the middle V2P4 and PosetteV3, on the left my Stephanie I hybrid and on the right my latest, JessiP4.

As for NEAena, she really REALLY is Pitklads "baby". :-)
I only had the pleasure to add one or two morphs and later do some characters for her. Thats all.
He did all the hard work like remapping, smoothing, creating new teeths and lacrimals, improving the joints, etc.
I just played with her once she was finished. ;-)

WOW jessi's face is lovely on P4's body. Is there anyway to simulate that face for ProPack or P5 users?

Hey Stahl!!! Are those JessiP4 and steph hybrids avail to the communnity? I googled for JessiP4 and found an old site with your username that seems 404'ed Are these chars anywhere?

lmckenzie ( ) posted Mon, 27 February 2006 at 2:11 AM

Yeah, I saw the treb but I didn't remember if it was you who was looking for one. Did you catch the PBS show where they tried to recreate one?

Adrianna V2P4 v2 here in freestuff has 87 body morphs ans she has her own wardrobe with customized versions of most of Posette's basic clothing.

There's also an older Posette-Vicki 1/2 hybrid, Polyette available at 3D Gladiators. I've never tried her and unfortunately, she requires both Vicki head textures and Posette body textures.

"FN." Heh, actually, I'd have a Sig if I could afford it. An MP5 would be nice though. Heck, I'd even settle for an Uzi :-) "...5 frantic forum replies to enable the downloads." You are a sick man :-) Mr. trebuchet is incredible and incredibly complex. My god, they modeled every rivet and tie and I think I saw a turd from one of the horses in there too. I think you should be able to get it posable enough for gov't work. I loaded it into Art of Illusion and started turning off things to see what was what-tedious. I finally ended up saving 3 pieces, the frame, the ropes and the arm + sling. Imported into Poser (lost the mapping) and actually opened and used the joint editor for the first time ever to set the pivot point for the arm. There was a teensy scaling issue to correct but other than that, she swings. I was in a hurry but to do it right, you'd want the pouch and it's ropes as separate parts so it can pivot correctly and maybe some other parts as well. I guess the ropes might need to bend. You could probably substiture Ajax EZ Pose tube for that. Of course if you were a true masochist, you could use every little part and do really authentic animations but I'd rather eat my keyboard.

"but I'd rather eat my keyboard." ROFL.. sounds like me! CR2'a are done.... that went faster than i expected! I had to make a fix morph for the hauberk as once conformed the hauberk breasts poked thru the breast plate ion ways the obj's don't ... very odd. But's it's done. I even managed to get the shoulder pads smartpropped. At this rate i'll probably have a beta pack out to Logan by end of the week if not sooner. Then while he's testing.. and maybe making a couple more fix morphs for the hauberk... i'll be doing the customer rsr/png's and cleaning up and packing.

One minor comment- Looks great, one exception though- the boots don't look right to my eyes. Seems to me that the knights went into pointy-toed ones, or maybe if they had thinner soles...

I've tried doing full greeves with sabbatons ... i havn't come up with anything i liked. I think part of my problem is that i don't like wearing them. They are incredibly uncomfortable .. and unless you get a pair made just perfectly for your feet you usually end up with the tops of your feet getting bruised. Perhapse i'll give it another go latter and release greeves and sabbatons as an "expansion pack" freebie for my already free plate mail :) Untill then however i'll probably stick with this for now as i have other things pressing and i want to finnish and release this before things start etting in the way again.

I believe its the posette breasts that are poking thru, I made her chest invis and the pokethru dissapeared. I also made invis her collars, shoulders, and forarms to eliminate pokethru at the hauberk sleeves.

I can whip up a quick MAT pose that will make these zones invis I believe

This is all retail texture maps from various parts of my Runtime on the armor and props. Just a quickie square of chain tiles on the coif and hauberk, the texture on the coif looks horrible I know, ill do a map from its texture template very soon or beg Mordikar's map outta him...

What may be necessary is a morph for the ends of the hauberk sleeves so that the char forarms can be visible but not poking thru. There is a thin line of space between forarm armor that allows the discerning eye to see that the forarms are invis.

Char here is DAZ Vicki2P4. Going to try some poses and see what happens with any pokethru.

BTW Mordikar, you didnt send me the shield in the beta pack!

no morphs, no tweaks, NO pokethru :) (same invisibility of V2P4 bodyparts) Schlabber pose, slightly tweaked

logansfury ( ) posted Wed, 01 March 2006 at 2:16 AM

The Thigh Guards, having seperate hip, abdo, lThigh and rThigh Bodyparts, allow for some good fast dial spins in dynamic posing. Here the hip is just twisted to 9 degrees, sidetoside 3 degrees and twist -15 degrees and the front pieces come right out of the hauberk and lay realistically

Here is the two hand sword pose with the dial settings listed above applied.

Schlabber pose, major tweaks, LArmIK enabled, LH parented to sword, sword parented to RH

Mordikar ( ) posted Wed, 01 March 2006 at 7:05 AM

Glad to se your initial testing is going well. The shield is in the geometry folder mordikar>P4fem Platemail. While doing rsr renders last night i came to the suddent realization that while it got parented and positioned .. it didn't get smart propped. (Will fix today and send you the pp2. ) I turn off chest, abdomen, r&l collars, soulders, and forearms. because yes she pokes thru the hauberk badly .. As for the line between the hand and the hauberk sleeve. I saw it too. The gauntlets cover it. but if you aren't using it yes theres a thin line that can be seen. would not mind a fix morph for each sleeve, but i'll leave it at 0 since a morph will probably poke thru the gauntlets. Posing notes The knees are parented to the thighs. get too bendy with the legs and you have to reposition and rotate a bit to make em look good. The elbows are parented to the forearms .. same thing applies. The breastplate does some strange things on the side if you get crazy with it. The trim seems to spearate from the rest of the armour. It doesn't do it unless you start gtting real twisty. Remember this is platemail ... twisty is unrealistic! :)
