Hi Folks, I am working on a city animation in bryce, and I have been playing with the sky. I can't figure out which of these 2 skies (only slightly different) looks better. The colors of the building come out more with one of the skies, but does it look better or just fake. Please take a serious look at the images and tell me which you feel looks better - the rigt side or the left. I am at the point where I have been staring at this for so long, I genuinely can't tell anymore... Thanks in advance for your input. Aharon

I like the left side better...though you cannot see the minute details in the building it looks more "realistic." Just my 1/2 cent worth anyway. BTW...how did you do the scrolling marquee on the building? That's cool. (Rob)

I really need to see it in better detail to help you the jpeg image is just pure shit looking through my aol browser =-. I like the one on the left better but I think if you made the one on the right darker it would be fantastic and it would have a nice gloomy look to it. DD the scrolling marquee in my best guess is a set of radial spheres with a low light setting on a circular path around the building. Thats the best way I can think of doing it.

I agree the left one looks better here also..

Thanks for your comments. I think part of the problem is that they are all the same basic texture (though each is varried). I will probably change some of the major body coloring of each structure to seperate them out. Thanks.

My vote is for the left one. A sky is a subjective thing, we all see them differently, but buildings are familiar to everyone and the more realistic the building the better it seems to me.

Vogel...thanks for the tip man. BTW...here is a return favor...AOL is the reason your jpegs look like shit. Something to do with their compression. Cheers, (Rob)

JVogel (and anyone else) to fix your aol jpg compression: go to My AOL, then preferences... Then click WWW icon in top row... In the next dialog box, select last tab on top: Web Graphics Uncheck "Use Compressed Graphics" if it's checked. You may not see the results until you exit and restart AOL but that should do it. It's awful that compressed is the default - a lot of people have no idea that things could look better. Dave www.citizendave.com
