Subject: How to change texture on default SolidGrowth plants/trees so that...

Well, I know how to make a  texture change on individual plants but I want to make it so that when I change the texture on a specific plant/tree then after the change it will appear on all the randomly made trees of the same sort (Ecosys).

To put it on another way: I want to create a fast Ecosys with random trees of a choosen species BUT with my edited texture; I want to keep the SolidGrowth randomness but also want my textures on the plants; in this case I don't want to use only one rotated/edited tree for the whole vegetation; any advise on this?

You could modify the plants in the tree editor as you need it and save this then as new species (.veg). Then you simply use this plant later - and in your ecosystem.

You as well could do the ecosystem with the standard plant(s) and then use the material overview - second tab right beside the world browser to the right. There you edit the materials used in the ecosystem to your needs.

Thanks wabe but there is a problem; I created a dead tree, added my texture *but I can't save it again as veg ; I can only save as *vob or some other 3D mesh but how to save it as *veg file? I want to edit these things in advance so I don't have to go back to the mat.editor again in the layer menu when I already created the Ecosys; I want a better work flow since Vue is very time consuming.

You save it from inside the plant editor. In the top row you'll find the icon for it.

Regarding workflow i think it has to do a lot with experience. Having used a lot of 3D applications in the last 20 years i must say i never have seen such an easy to use program as Vue. BUT, when i used version 1 as a demo i was not impressed at all and deleted ir right away - BECAUSE of the interface. Only after i did the first 2-3 images in Vue 4 (on Mac) i became a fan. But again, a very subjective pov, everybody has to make their own experiences - and decisisons.

Oops, I've got it! I have to save it directly from the plant editor ("save as new species") - many thanks wabe for the advice !
