Yeah, that sounds like you TJohn, too young, stupid and immature, all snuggly with the left way of thinking as predicted by philosophers about youth. Too bad you don't have the initiative to take care of your own tail comrade.

Being as you’re not an American and you use the American flag in your render are you trying to say something indirectly perhaps under the guise of art? No, Picasso you are not, sorry to inform you that the great artist was more succinct.

sackrat ( ) posted Mon, 17 July 2006 at 8:00 PM

Tjohn not an Amerikan ? I thought the "T" stood for Tennesee !?!? What does it stand for ? Tasmania perhaps, or Tatzhikistan, Timbuktu, or maybe Transyalvania ? Oh,.......the horror !

OK,..........I'm sorry and I should just let this drop,..........but being of Irish ancestry, well, you know,.............an artistic guise of what exactly,.........this is assuming you are actually serious. I do believe it's called "Humour". Really don't think there's any hidden agenda here,...............once again, assuming you actually are serious, which I find difficult to believe. All hail to the PDRRG (Peoples Democratic Republic of Render Gods). OH yeah, one more thing,.........Tjohn is young !?!?  I thought he was born the year after me ?

Geez, c'mon Angelo, lighten up will ya? Tjohn is hardly a "Leftist"! He's good buds with Drac, and Drac seems to be about as anti-communist as they come. I enjoy Tjohn's satiric spoofery, and to my mind he sees both sides as "fair-game", much like Mad magazine. If it will make you feel better, I will post a Poser animation based on Leni Riefenstahl's "Triumph of Will".

I would explain but the Wikipedia has it in much more detail.  Basically one of the first and best propaganda films.

Edit to add: I should mention that the film is propaganda for Hitler and the Nazi regime, and as such is banned in Germany apart from educational use.  Still very powerful propaganda though.

Point by point:

I'll be 53 years old next month.

Can't really argue with stupid or immature. 😄

Born in Tennessee, USA, spent all of my life here so far. I think that pretty much makes me a citizen of the US. They even allow me to vote.

Not a left thinker, whatever that is. Not all that political really, as I see politics as mostly posturing without much real substance.

I look at all the issues and vote for the people who I think will do the best job for our nation. I have voted for some Republicans, and for some Democrats. So I think that makes me fairly open-minded politically.

About the reference that seems to be calling me a coward, I'd have a hard time arguing that one as well. 😄

This was meant to be funny. Most people seem to have "gotten" it.

I'm apparently not smart enough to understand the Picasso reference.

Lastly: I am able to disagree with people without what amounts to name calling.

John

Tennessee...10 hours on I-40 going from NC, and across the Mississippi..;)

If satire is mistaken for propaganda (actually, from a propaganda standpoint, it's not effective, as it goes 'off message'..;)

the Reifenstahl pic they refer to is a propaganda pic, done about a Nazi convention. The only 'cool' thing about it was a 'cathedral of light' done by having rows of searchlights send beams into the air (just wondering how much render time that would eat up) at night. Other than that, it's Hitler posturing, goose-stepping, the usual stuff...

Picasso bit might be referring to the painting 'Guernica'..it's as close as I can figgur it..;)

Have to stand up for Tjohn..he's a neighboring state..;) (and he's only 4 years older than I..;)

BTW: Quest's reference to Picasso: he  was said to have a left leaning political philosophy was considered a womanizer although I think this later view is wrong - I believe he worshipped his women - often the woman he was with was the subject of his artwork. Picasso was also supposed to have said that you should try everything once - with this I strongly agree.

Some artists wish to propel their artistic career by being outright disrespectful and downright irreverent of other people’s feelings. Our artistic group has never stooped to that level wantonly here in this forum. If you wish to brandish your politics then it should be set proper for all others to set their political opinion.

sackrat,
Ya know he's right about one thing. We don't touch bases with politics enough with art 'round cheer. Perhaps we should do a monthly challenge or two based on politics once and a while . . . But then I'd hate for him to go running around the room screeming and yelling and pulling out his hair because someone doesn't agree with him politically.

on the other hand maybe he should just visit the site listed below

and get it out of his system  http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html

nothing like a little rush to make you realize how silly extreme viewpoints can sound to others.

Jerry Brown used to do a daily  on Pacifica as well; too bad that one's not still up. (another extreme example)

Politics Explained with Cows

FEUDALISM: You have two cows. Your lord takes some of the milk.

PURE SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else's cows. You have to take care of all of the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

BUREAUCRATIC SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and put them in a barn with everyone else's cows. They are cared for by ex-chicken farmers. You have to take care of the chickens the government took from the chicken farmers. The government gives you as much milk and eggs as the regulations say you need.

FASCISM: You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to take care of them and sells you the milk.

PURE COMMUNISM: You have two cows. Your neighbors help you take care of them, and you all share the milk.

RUSSIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. You have to take care of them, but the government takes all the milk.

CAMBODIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and shoots you.

DICTATORSHIP: You have two cows. The government takes both and drafts you.

PURE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors decide who gets the milk.

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors pick someone to tell you who gets the milk.

BUREAUCRACY: You have two cows. At first the government regulates what you can feed them and when you can milk them. Then it pays you not to milk them. Then it takes both, shoots one, milks the other and pours the milk down the drain. Then it requires you to fill out forms accounting for the missing cows.

PURE ANARCHY: You have two cows. Either you sell the milk at a fair price or your neighbors try to take the cows and kill you.

LIBERTARIAN/ANARCHO-CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

SURREALISM: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

AN AMERICAN REPUBLICAN:  You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So what?

AN AMERICAN DEMOCRAT:  You have two cows.  Your neighbor has none.  You feel guilty for being successful.  You vote people into office who tax your cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay the tax.  The people you voted for then take the tax money and buy a cow and give it to your neighbor. You feel righteous.

DEMOCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE:  You have two cows.  The government taxes you to the point you have to sell both to support a man in a foreign country who has only one cow, which was a gift from your government.

CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE:  You have two cows.  You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.  You are surprised when the cow drops dead.

A FRENCH CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You go on strike because you want three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create clever cow cartoon images called Cowkimon and market them World-Wide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You reengineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.

A BRITISH CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  They are mad.  They die. Pass the shepherd's pie, please.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION:  You have two cows, but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 12 cows.  You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.

A SWISS CORPORATION:  You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to you. You charge others for storing them.

A BRAZILIAN CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You enter into a partnership with an American corporation.  Soon you have 1000 cows and the American corporation declares bankruptcy.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You worship both of them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  You have 300 people milking them. You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the newsman who reported on them.

AN ISRAELI CORPORATION:  There are these two Jewish cows, right?  They open a milk factory, an ice cream store, and then sell the movie rights. They send their calves to Harvard to become doctors. So, who needs people?

AN ARKANSAS CORPORATION:  You have two cows.  That one on the left is kinda cute.
