Subject: Speaking of image resolution...

Attached Link: Changing Image Resolution without Changing Quality

I just came across something for us newer photoshop users. It definitely shed some light on image resolution/resizing for me.  According to the article in Layers magazine, it works for both CS and CS2, while also preserving the image's quality.

Hopefully this won't be too old hat for everyone here and useful to some?

That has got to be one of the most useful PhotoShop tutorials I've ever seen.

Awesome information for me (And I've been using PS since version 5)

A bookmarker for sure Ariannah.

Thanks for sharing this one.

Oh cool, Tom!  I'm glad you didn't laugh (you being a PS veteran and all!) and found it useful.
I've since been perusing the other tutorials at the Layers magazine site and have discovered a wealth of info.

Man, I don't think I'll ever learn everything photoshop can do.
So much to learn but I'm having a blast at least trying to, lol. ;)

Well..typically,...In the past,... I've been a  "Screen Resolution" guy for so long.

Doing graphic for websites n-stuff. Besides... Ink is expensive,...and being a frugal guy, I tend not to experiment with expensive stuff for no particular reason.

But lately, I've been contracted to get a clients images ready for print.

Like postcards, brochures, CD Labels and Jewel Case inserts and stuff like that.

So this tutorial has covered some uncharted territory for me regarding PhotoShop.

So simple...and it's been there right in front of me the whole time.

As has been said before: "When the student is ready...The teacher will appear".

Teachers come in many forms, and are not always the more experienced in a given field. Even it is to simply point the way to further knowledge.

Thanks again.

Good article Ariannah - and I'm glad to see someone finally putting it in print that DPI or PPI doesn't mean squat until it's going out for print.

I've tried that upsampling trick, BTW - you need to start out with a BIG image to begin with! This will NOT work with something like an 800x600 image!

Yeah, people may be experienced users, but it tends to be in certain areas, and then spillover into some others. I do multiple image compositing with the intent that nobody will ever know by looking at the finished product, but can't do graphics to save my life! I'll toil away for hours trying to get something I remotely like, and my buddy Dave (a graphic designer, oddly) will sit down, make 5-6 clicks and it's suddenly awesome (at this point I look over at him, smile, and thoughtfully say, "you suck.")!
