Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 7:06 am)
My last guitar collection was nine guitars (Ramirez classical, another Ibanez Steve Vai Jem, Les Paul, Fender YJM Strat, and assorted others), but financial problems caused me to sell them. A new house, a second-mortgage (an interest-pay only and still going five years later), etc. and so on. Things are getting better now, but I still purchase with some trepidation and try to use cash when possible to avoid credit cards.

**amacord I love animusic!! It is amazing!!
Quest you can use the Polygon mesh from nurbs object command with the advanced meshing options. Then just undo the mesh command and start over with modified meshing options. There is no need to rebuild anything. When meshing in Rhino it is important to never check the refine mesh option and scale your model as large as possible in the viewport.

Here's how they look...pretty much finished now. I'll be giving them away over at PlanIt 3D as a Christmas gift.
Many thanks for all the interest shown, and the equally interesting minor thread drift ~lol~

They look so close to the 'real thing', how many hands for a bunch of 'yo-dude' players who buy them thinking they are getting the 'real thing'. ;)
Great work, slinger!

I have a question not even related to guitar effects pedals:
I'm currently looking at a Peavey Wolfgang EVH Archtop guitar with D-Tuna for, gulp, $2150 over on eBay! Whatcha think about it?
I've been hankerin' for something smooth, quick, good tonal quality, and with the technical equipment (Floyd Rose double-locking) for some time. The Music Man Axis is nice, but have not been so impressed. Supposedly, these are impressive. :)
Thanks - and, no, Poser can't do decent renders (when I'm using it). ;P Poser is getting better and better - I feel that P7 has really ramped up the overal usability for certain.

No, never!! :) Actually, I have owned several Les Pauls - a less expensive Studio model (not the same) and 'the real deal' (can't remember if it was the Custom Plus or Standard Plus - about $2600 w/case). Beautiful guitars, beautiful sound, smooth play... schreech... no double-locking tremolo system and weighed a ton. The weight took a toll on my back as lower-back problems run in my family - and I wasn't spared. As great as they are, I'm a 'technical' player. I need a whammy bar on a floating bridge within reach or the sweats start. :)
The Music Man Axis or Peavey Wolfgang are sort of touted as the best alternative to Les Paul when you want that extra hardware but the same tonal quality/sound and playability. I wasn't as impressed with the Axis - neck was a little too fat and the sound a little too muddy for my style. Could be the same for the Wolfgang - will see. I've only had a chance to hold and play a Wolfgang once way back in the early 90's when a friend purchased one. But it was just a quick check, not plugged in. It was his baby, you know what I mean.
The local guitar shop, unfortunately, only carries a very limited selection - mainly Fender. I tried out a Hamer USA Artist (I believe, about $1400). Smooth and amazing tone, but no hardware. That's the problem with the local shop - only a couple of guitar with double-locking trems and they are mid-range Ibanez. Already have a JEM to fill that slot.

**The auction ended eary with buy it now. Somebody just couldn't wait to get their hands on a hot little guitar.
Pakled I have owned several of the Peavey Classics in the fifty watt flavor. They rocked hard!!! I currently have a solid state transtube Envoy 110. I am not quite so enamored with it and spend more time playing through my mixing board. I love that tube sound. Lately I have been working on a song with a "Cortez the Killer " vibe to it. I play an Epiphone Les Paul and would love to have a genuine Gibson Les Paul or Les Paul Jr. Leslie West used to make them Jrs look like little toys.**
