I'm looking for iconbuilder for Photoshop 7.0. i may not be able to get it and might have to use another tool to get the job done... light bulb i don't need to enter but, i had the idea that the community could have a contest or challenge to make a renderosity set of icons. Perhaps a 4 to 9 icons? I wonder what the next Photoshop, Poser, Bryce, Z-brush or program 'version X' icon might look like - the program list could go on... 128x128? the submissions for judging could have a 'simulated desktop' with their icons on it, to simulate a screen shot, each with link to one icon in that set to download... regardless if the comp happens or not I'm going to have a crack at it after i see some responses - I can see how icons can seem limited because of there size, but we can break the mold of having the ordinary, lets make something beyond ordinary preconceptions.

I can see how inclusion is important, the success of the monthly themes let people express themselves in many forms, the actual icon format is a minor post-work issue that can be worked around. If people don't have the software their piece can be converted by some one who does? My expression of the challenge was supposed to devoid of a suggestion that might restrict going beyond ordinary preconceptions so that, that boundary could crossed. The theme could be 'computer interface, icons', however any submission could redefine what media the design process requires, almost all of the Art i've seen here, people used theme to produce their art with their chosen medium ( including but not restricted to computer programs) then submit that art, so removing the format restrictions might increase the participation. I'd Appreciate your feedback.

Hi karosnikov,

Interesting...and certainly challenging...idea. Thank you for sharing it.

We'll need to see how much interest there might be from the community in doing such a challenge. If so, we can look into it further.

We do have some more fun and challenging contests coming up very soon. More details will be posted next week ;-)

Best wishes,
Lillian

i suppose that is the difference between comercial artists and expressive artists, i did mean to expand the concept of the computer interface so both fields could of expertice could post art expressing the disapointment with the restriction that curent interfaces have or imagine the interfaces of the future, what hapens when the interface or icon is the artwork? i think the matrix movie for example shows how people interface with computers, or was it the opposite? my poor expression of the concept is probably the reason for the lack of interest, jpg is fine for submissions. .. ''regardless if the comp happens or not I'm going to have a crack at it after i see some responses'' this might take a while... who knows i might become a merchant lol.
