Subject: Shader like this?

Does someone know how i could achieve a shader like the cells have on the link above?

How about asking Glazy? He is member here at Renderosity as well. You can send him a personal message, maybe he is answering that. And then you know EXACTLY how it is done. Nice image btw indeed.

Thanks wabe! I've just sent the message, but i don't know if he will read it cause his last upload is dated of july. I will see. I'm desperatly looking for shaders like that and more, cause i'm not so good with Vue fonction editor.

It seems there are a few shaders missing from Vue 5 to Vue 6.

This one used to be included in Vue 5 as special effects, along with a toon shader and a few others.

I'm not usre why I am missing them in Vue 6.

I will package them tonight and make them available for download in case they are missing for other people.

Yeah! Thanks Agiel, it's very kind of you!
Sure there is a lot of included shaders in Vue 6, but i'm looking for a lot of other kinds of shaders, like a velvet one for instance. In fact, it seems easier to make complex shaders in Poser 6 than in Vue 6 (with velvet node, edge blend node, etc).

I just received an email from Glazy. He sent me the shader he used, and explained it's a simple variation of the Vue blood cell shader, which, of course, is not included in Vue 6.

When you have those ready, agiel, I'd appreciate a note.  I need some more shaders for my Vue 6.  I still have Vue 5 installed so I'm going to look and see if the missing ones are there.

TIA

While I am at it, I will also include materials I made while testing things in Vue 6 (jade, milk, marble, skin, etc).

More on that tonight...

The good news - I am preparing a package of 20 materials I experimented with.

Now for the bad news - I will post it tomorrow - Vue is currently busy rendering the preview of all the materials so that I can attach it to the Freestuff.

Here are the materials.

For now, I only have them wrapped into a single .vue scene.

Simply download the scene, open it in Vue and save the materials you want from the Material Editor.

I only have Vue 6 Infinite, so if anyone with Vue 6 or Vue 6 Easel could try these out and tell me if they work, I would package them as individual mats and place them in the freestuff area.

Regarding the materials with SSS effect, you will have to adjust the depth of the translucency and the direction (more or less backward) depending on the size and geometry of your object. Intense lights help a lot to bring out the effect.

Have fun

One word about 'Banded toon'.

This shader is a little more advanced than the others.

The gradient is hard coded to point into the direction of a single point in space (which should be the main source of light).

To change the direction, edit the material in the editor, and replace the X,Y,Z coordinates of the 'vector' node.

I will post a screenshot later if you need help with that one.

Very great! Thanks agiel!

One thing, when opening the scene, Vue asks for a map called "skin4" and a hdr "harbour_color". Bt it's not a great deal to change that. Otherwise, i use Vue 6 Esprit and it works fine!

Thanks for letting me know about the missing files. I will try to find which material are referencing them.

CobraEye ( ) posted Thu, 10 May 2007 at 11:29 AM

Thank you so much for sharing these.

Another word of warning.... I left Displacement turned on with a high value (1.0) for the shader Flesh.

You will want to play with that value if you don't want your object to be heavily distorted.

That prompted me to re-test these shaders again on a real mesh instead of a sphere, before posting an update.
